W. Apple’s wine collection (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ntent/article/2010/01/03/AR2010010301600 .html?hpid=sec-metro). The story has repeated references to his “enviably enormous expense account.” Are the Times’ rules a reaction to the excesses of the paper’s royalty? It wouldn’t be the first time that mere staffers (and, in this case, freelancers) have paid the price of the loose ethics of their “betters.”
