B of A recently set one foot in the ground. Bernanke's free money has not been enough. They are desperate for income, and doing whatever they can to drum up income.

As far as I can see in the banking situation right now the blood suckers are getting weeded out. You can only keep on with trading debt and hedging for so long. The funds are producing no useful product. Even the banks, when they stopped investing in small business development were signing their own death warrants. You can go along financing in the government debt path for a time, but you will whither and die because there is no life in this dead end.

Bank? MF Global is a futures commission merchant. Corzine's efforts to transform an FCM into an IB were obviously sorely misguided. We are in a commodity bull market. Every day, thousands of equity traders are looking to trade futures for the first times in their lives. All Corzine had to do was focus on improving the MF platform and doing a little marketing to draw these folks in, and the company would have been one of the big winners of the decade.

Of course how good are the hedges? If the Greek writedowns aren't deemed a Credit Event, you can't claim on the hedges. Also, too, how good were the hedges with AIG?
