much to be said about neat archives.

Reuters does a nice job giving context – continued, comprehensive coverage must surely help [cudos intended].

Google News is not dead. I wish this project on them !

Why couldn’t you provide a link for the man so famous for doing the lord’s work they gave him the title of lord?

(god bless google search)

(I’m bearish on Ezra’s new venture.)

I don’t think this is Reith, and “what’s important” is a problematic phrase for a lot of journalists because it involves making a judgement about what’s important at the start of the exercise rather than simply reporting events as they happen. What you’re describing is John Birt’s “Mission To Explain” – the passage you quoted from Ezra Klein is straight out of Weekend World. It never worked as a mass market proposition, but it’s always had dedicated adherents.

As media tries to find revenue streams, those companies who have stocks might think about some serious advertising to keep good quality news flowing. I’m not over impressed with the World Post as I looked at it but I don’t read Huffington Post much either anymore since they wanted a Facebook account to connect to for commenting..so that’s that and I’m out of there as I refuse to have a Facebook account as I prefer privacy.

The World Post just looked like an elegant news content farm overall, but time will tell and good luck to those going out on their own as those folks will work hard to keep their brand either started or continuing.
