I speak with a lot of firms about trade reporting and many still seem to desire additional clarity on exactly what their obligations are. It might be that the complexity in the regulation and the difficulties in translating that to an implantation are preventing many from compliance. Real-time monitoring of each business milestone of a trade would seems to be what is required for true surveillance; however, many just monitor the ACKs and NACKs from the GTR and call it a day. I am not sure how they will respond ASATP. As soon as someone ratchets up their speed on this, the bar for what is technologically possible will be raised and the rest of the dealers will have to conform to that level. That will cause a lot of firms to hustle to catch up.
