The fear of Democrat Hillary Clinton has long been a successful fundraising tool for Republicans, who use the specter of another Clinton in power to pump up donations from the faithful.
So the Republican National Committee was quick to react on Tuesday to news that Clinton led her 2008 presidential rivals with a $27 million fundraising haul in the last three months.
“The Hillary Clinton fundraising juggernaut keeps on rolling,” Mike Duncan, chairman of the RNC, said in a fundraising appeal sent to supporters late on Tuesday.
The e-mail, headlined “Stop the Hillary Juggernaut,” noted the entire field of Democratic White House candidates was raising far more than their Republican counterparts.
“And that doesn’t even count the hundreds of millions of dollars Big Labor, Hollywood elites and liberal groups like MoveOn.org are raising to defeat Republicans in 2008,” Duncan said.
“If Republicans don’t close the fundraising gap with the Democrats by the end of this year, we will not be able to defend our candidates from their vicious attacks and outright distortions,” he said, urging Republicans to donate to the RNC.
The e-mail said the New York senator and former first lady had “shown her true liberal colors” with her health care plan, proposals for more government spending and refusal to denounce a MoveOn.org ad criticizing Iraqi commander Gen. David Petraeus.

Actually, if they need to raise funds simply to counterattack the vicious GOP-style attacks from outright distortions, why don’t they just elect a candidate that can’t be attacked because he is just honest and has intregrity? Only one candidate among the GOP is like that. Yep, its Ron Paul. So, the way to avoid mud slinging it to not have any mud to sling… What a concept, huh? Oh wait, no GOPer can think out of their box to come up with a simple solution but instead they just continue with the usual BS rhetoric we hear from all things GOP.
- Posted by GlennRon Paul looks to be the best so far to me as well & unlike Hillary he’s not taking money from big sponsors for something in return.
Who gets the most donations only tells me there going to be giving in to something or already have. Those running should have to rely only the general public for there funding, eliminating the big breaks, pardons, & loopholes those in the corporations seek.
