Democrats apparently really, really like Hillary Clinton.
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll on Wednesday shows the New York senator and former first lady has cemented her lead among her Democratic rivals with 53 percent support, an enormous 33-point lead over second-place Sen. Barack Obama.
The poll marks a 12-point increase for Clinton and a seven-point drop for Obama since early September. It was conducted after she hit all five political news shows one Sunday last month and after she unveiled her new health care plan.
She is about even with Obama in the money race, though bested him in the latest quarterly report, raising some $27 million compared to his $20 million (although $5 million she can only use in the general election if she wins the party’s nomination).
Clinton also beat Obama and third-place contender former Sen. John Edwards in the poll questions about who is the strongest leader, has the best chance of getting elected and is the most honest and trustworthy.
On the Republican side, the poll found former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani leads the pack by a substantial margin, 34 percent to the 17 percent backing former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson. Arizona Sen. John McCain was in third with 12 percent support.
Giuliani also topped the list among Republicans for having the best chance of winning in 2008 and as the strongest leader. However, he was tied for the lead with McCain for who is the most honest and trustworthy.

Hillary is finally getting the love that she deserves. She is obviously the most qualified and intelligent candidate.
- Posted by gregI’ve gotta ask… is this just a sign that Democrats vote with who they think will win? Or is it a true conscience vote?
Plus, I don’t think she’s doing as well in the early primary states.
- Posted by JustinNo doubt about it, Harry and Louise from 1994 health care TV spots will vote for Hillary Clinton. Most qualified, she’s also most attacked by the crew which undid the budget surpluses of Bill’s second term. Only remaining question is whether Hillary can redirect all the wasteful health care spending into once again balancing the federal gov’t deficit.
