Kucinich confirms UFO sighting, where’s his space policy?

Yes, he really did say he saw an unidentified flying object.

Democratic presidential long-shot Rep. Dennis Kucinich claimed at Tuesday night’s debate he did indeed see a UFO when he was at the house of actress and close friend Shirley MacLaine in Graham, Washington.

MacLaine described the sighting in a book to be published in November, “Sage-ing While Age-Ing.”

rtr4r48.jpg“It was an unidentified flying object, OK? It’s, like, it’s unidentified. I saw something,” Kucinich said in response to a, shall we say, skeptical question from NBC News’ debate moderator Tim Russert.

“And also, you have to keep in mind that more — that Jimmy Carter saw a UFO and also that more people in this country have seen UFOs than I think approve of George Bush’s presidency,” the Ohio congressman said.

To which Russert responded, 14 percent of Americans have said they have seen a UFO. So Kucinich’s math was a little off, Bush’s approval rating is in the 30s.

Tongue firmly in cheek, Kucinich said he would move his campaign headquarters to Roswell, New Mexico, the location where some believe a UFO crashed in 1947. The U.S. military has repeatedly argued that it was a weather balloon.

No word yet on Kucinich’s detailed plan for space exploration but we’re waiting … and watching…

This is offensive that Russert would chose to bring this into the debate. I have seen something in the sky that I cannot explain. Is he suggesting that means I am crazy? We deserve to have a debate about the so many very important issues that face our nation. Not these kind of senseless distractions

Mr. Russert, who softballed, along with the vast majority of both parties in Congress, the administration’s Iraq science fiction still has his eye on the important questions.

Everytime I look in the mirror I see an alien and every night sky is full of UFOs…why is one thought to be crazy for this?

Most people who have seen such sightings don’t tell it around too much for fear of being written off as nuts. We are so not alone in this universe!

Russert’s comments have become par for the course for an employee of corporate-owned news media who is completely brainwashed into maintaining the status quo.

His decision to ask this question is a direct adn transparent way to further marginalize a candidate who is bold, progressive and principled. Kucinich may be a long-shot but his position on issues can help add to the debate and force first-tier candidates to speak more directly to the issues, if moderators would allow it. This, I think, is why people like Dennis and Mike Gravel, et al run. NOT because they believe they have a serious chance to be our next President (although I’m sure they wouldn’t mind!) but because they care about our country, see where the problems are, and want to give Americans a way to see “inside” the machinery, dream bigger, and challenge the corrupt and broken status quo.

What is crazy about wanting to focus on ways to promote peace instead of war? Providing healthcare to the un/under-insured in what we fancy to be one of greatest societies in human history? And a predominantly Christian one at that?!

Most Americans say that want politics in Washington to change but then when someone comes along and offers radically-different solutions/ways of thinking about our problems which are positive and original, we can only make fun of them. Dismiss them via contrived ad hominem character assassinations by insinuating they are nut jobs. Oh the things one could say (but won’t) about his inability to remember important details about his own words and actions during Scooter Libby’s trial….

Russert and pundits much worse then he detract from meaningful dialogue and true governance by the people for the people with these tired propoganda techniques which keep us from getting too close to effectively dealing with the REAL issues.
