A tale of two candidates — and their money

Two long-shot Republican presidential candidates, Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter, are happy today for their Internet fund-raising prowess.rtx4kt3.jpg

Paul raised $6 million in one day, and Hunter pulled in $25,000 in a little more than three weeks.

Neither stands much of a chance of winning the White House. In fact, by next spring they will probably both be occupying their normal seats in the U.S. House of Representatives — Paul from Texas, Hunter from California.

But now, in the excitement of the presidential campaign, it is time to crow.

“Fellow Duncaneers, the final results are in!” the Hunter campaign said in an emailed statement. “You made the month of November huge for online giving!”

The Paul campaign, which has raised huge sums from supporters online, was a bit more matter-of-fact.

“In a 24-hour period on Dec. 16, the campaign raised $6.026 million, surpassing the one-day record of $5.7 million held by John Kerry,” the Paul campaign said, referring to the Democrats’ 2004 presidential nominee.

The only reason why Ron paul might not win is because large news networks and reporters such as yourself refuse to let anyone you don’t want to win have any publicity.

Mr. Holland,

You can’t be serious here….

I LOVE this quote from you: “Paul raised $6 million in one day, and Hunter pulled in $25,000 in a little more than three weeks.”

While adding this: “Paul raised $6 million in one day, and Hunter pulled in $25,000 in a little more than three weeks.”

Congressman Ron Paul IS WINNING.

The only reason for his “low numbers” is because the phony, corporately controlled media (yeah, including Reuters…) continue to intentionally marginalize him; associate him with nefarious characters and ‘conspiracy theorists’. All this while when (as he always does) by winning ALL online polls; either REMOVE him from the polls or claim that supporters are “slamming” online polls.

The media marginilization and intentional ignoring of Ron Paul and his message are sure to continue.

Unfortunately for your Corporate Masters, the GIG IS UP!

We’re fed up.

Whether Ron Paul wins or not, the message of freedom will continue and grow and an ever growing rate.

Maybe you’d like to join us!

Freedom IS CONTAGIOUS!

Join the REVOLUTION!

You can live as a slave in this system or choose to report the true message of freedom that Ron Paul advocates.

Abiding by the Constitution….what a concept!

well, there’s that Elliott, but there’s also the little thing of rigged elections which the machine has perfected in the last two prez [s]elections.

It’s the entire website. The link that shows the candidates on one page doesn’t even bother to post both Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich. The two candidates who don’t pander to the corporate interests. Reuters is just like any big money news agency and they are owned by big money interests. Those interests don’t want the likes of the Pauls and Kuciniches ever attaining office. It’s not in their best interests.

Instead they would rather promote other lesser known candidates that don’t have a shot in the dark.

Poor Ron Paul. He has no chance of winning the election because Reuters and other news agencies barely mention his name.

Google has proven that Ron Paul is the most search candidate. Google has also proven that he gets the less new mentions of any candidate.

All this while Ron Paul has won more straw polls than anyone else, received money from more Americans than anyone else, gets more website traffic than anyone else, and so on.

What more is he to do?

The news agencies mention the names of McCain, Thompson, Giuliani, and Huckabee many more times a day than Paul’s. This was proven by Google.

The news agencies are not costing Huckabee or Giuliani any votes. They are costing Ron Paul millions of votes.

I am excited for anyone besides the “bought candidates” honestly. If any of the underdogs do well I am happy but I am 100% Ron Paul supporter whether he is republican, democrat OR independent.

He has my values and his exact.

WE ARE IN DESPARATE NEED FOR AN ALTERNATE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE \”RUNNING AS AN INDEPENDENT”. I am voting against Obama by voting for McCain. What Obama says and does are inconsistent and contradictory. He is just a showman and manipulator. Does he not understand that if 911 happened once, it can happen again. He should not be playing politics with our national security or our economy. The way CNN & ABC are CAMPAIGNING for him, he will be the next president and that is really scary. With that said, I think the republicans might be waiting until the last minute to have him disqualified. He does not qualify for president through neither of his parents, much less both parents. If that happens, we would need another candidate on the ballot.
