The modern day presidential babysitting barometer

Nevermind whether you’d buy a used car from any of the 2008 candidates for president. A more provocative test of voter confidence is whether they’d trust the candidate with their kids.

And the answer is:  not really. Well at least regarding the two political rivals from New York Republican former mayor Rudy Giuliani and New York Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton and their spouses.

rtx43bx.jpgA national poll of women released this week by the New York Daily News found that just over one in three would prefer to have former president Bill Clinton and his candidate wife babysit.

But that’s far better than Giuliani and his wife Judith, a former nurse, did. Only one in five preferred them.

A fifth of the 569 female registered voters surveyed wouldn’t either couple with their kids.

“I might let Mrs. Giuliani watch my kids, but not Rudy. If his own children won’t speak to him, I don’t want my kids speaking to him,” the New York tabloid quoted Deborah Taylor, 58, of Derby, Kan. saying, referring to his estrangement from his children.

Blum & Weprin Associates surveyed 569 female registered voters for The News. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

Finally a reality test for political candidates. We need more of this kind of decision making to see who is trustworthy and who deserves the boot.

I really like the idea of this question. The likeability factor will be huge. I think Mr. Mitt Romney looks the most presidential.

Are you kidding me? Out of all the questions that could be asked of voters nome nitwit decided that this is what is good? Are these the same people who brought the ridiculously inane, “Who would you rather have a drink with?”

I feel dumber for actually reading this.

I think this is a ridiculous question. It’s deceiving the common by standard into believing that this is true way of measuring a persons integrity and trustworthiness. It’s not. Many people are touchy when it comes to their children to begin with, and rightfully so. The responses that come from this question are deceiving and far from reaching the objective, which is selecting a President! Not a babysitter.
