Republican presidential long-shot Rep. Ron Paul may be in the single digits in most opinion polls, but he’s raking in millions of dollars in cash to fund his campaign.
The Texas congressman raised more than $19.5 million during the fourth quarter, his campaign said, the first of the 15 White House hopefuls to reveal their most recent fund-raising just two days before Iowa voters hit the caucuses.
More than half of his haul came during two day-long drives, one in which he raised $4.3 million on Nov. 5 commemorating Guy Fawkes Day, when rebels including Guy Fawkes planned to blow up Britain’s Houses of Parliament in 1605. The second effort was Dec. 16 commemorating the Boston Tea Party and raised just over $6 million.
Paul, an obstetrician-gynecologist, is the only Republican who has condemned the Iraq war and has built a strong Internet following, in part because of his libertarian views.
“Only Dr. Paul has the ability to inspire Americans to contribute and take action that is necessary if Republicans want to defeat the Democrats in November,” said campaign chairman Kent Snyder.
The campaign said he had more than 130,000 donors, of which 107,000 were new contributors.

The media has no clue about how many of us Paul supporters are actually out here. As usual, the story of the year is right under their nose and their asleep at the wheel.
- Posted by Nick, FloridaWake up! Ron Paul is for real. And we’re going to make sure this guy has enough doe to run with or without the nomination.
If Ron Paul is so wrong, the why does he feel SO RIGHT?!
Dr. Paul cured my apathy! We’ve got hope for America!
- Posted by Brad in College Station, TXIf the media would let Ron Paul speak then he would be a front runner. If you look at google polls he is the front runner. The media is brainwashing the citizens of America to vote for the candidate that benefits them the most financially. Listen to Ron Paul’s message. He’s our only hope!
- Posted by AeRoFoRcEI just love how the MSM always have to mention, “fringe” or “long shot” when they mention RP.That just means it’s going to be that much more of a shocker when RP finishes in the top three in Iowa and New Hampshire. Thanks MSM , for making it so clear to the nation that you are biased and trying so hard to marginalize Ron Paul. By doing this you have awakened the sleeping beast, just what America needs, a good old fashioned revolution, Ron Paul revolution.
- Posted by freedogThe numbers prove he is not only the front runner in the Republican field, but by a very wide margin. He raised the money from a very large group of citizens that feel very strongly about this man. It’s not really about Ron Paul as it is about the people actually hearing the truth for once in their lives from a man as equally concerned about the plight of his country as any sane American should. If Ron does not take this thing easily today, then I fear that the ‘powers that be’ will finally be exposed for the people to see. We do indeed live in interesting times.
- Posted by canforpaulLook, it makes sense that Ron Paul hasn’t showed up much in the polls. He’s appealing to Independents and young people who’ve never voted but who are all of a sudden very mobilized. They’re calling registered Republicans who’ve voted for Bush two times, what do you expect.
I do not think there’s a conspiracy although we do know for sure that FOX just doesn’t like him.
Disenfranchised people who usually don’t vote usually don’t show up at the caucuses. It’s the truth. Middle-aged and older people vote. All these people, including myself, have donated to his campaign because finally there is someone who is standing up for us and putting themselves on the line for us.
Now we have to do our part and show up tomorrow and in the following few weeks and vote. And tell everyone about him. Tell the people in the real world who don’t investigate things on their own. I told three people earlier today about him and they hadn’t even heard of the guy.
We have to start spreading the word in the real world, because those people vote more than the internet people. That’s been the truth so far. Look at Howard Dean. All that cash, all that support, and then 23% in Iowa 4 years ago. It’s not that anyone left him, it’s that young people don’t vote.
We need to get out there in hoards and put this guy over the top. Our country deserves it.
- Posted by Jason MarcelI really do believe that money talks. People in the US “vote” with their money. They vote for which brand of hair conditioner, which type car, even which political candidate they like. In the race for the Republican presidential nomination, America has voted already. Follow the money to the winner.

- Posted by mikeI used to be Democrate, Now I AM VOTING FOR RON PAUL. Lets end the war in Iraq Now! Lets bring the troops and the money home! If the main “stream” or old “slow stream”. Dose not listen, there will be hell to pay. We will not watch you MSM we will not watch you CNN we will make our own river of democracy!
- Posted by NewNateDogSingle digits in polls? thats because he is excluded from most every poll. The media has been silencing him from day one. Dr. Paul has a larger and stronger support base than any other candidate. And Ron Paul a longshot candidate? Not hardly. look at the financial support he has raked in based on internet donations alone. He’s going up against Thompson, Giuliani and McCain today, and will win. What will be said then? will he still be smeared and ignored by the mainstream media? Keep spreading the message of freedom. We, as die hard supporters of Ron Paul far outnumber the media.

When will the media get their head out of the ground!!!! Ron Paul is _ahead_ in most opinion polls. If the author would have done even one second’s worth of research, he would have discovered that Dr. Paul won the most straw polls, won the most text message polls, and won the most Internet polls.
So, observing the totality of this information, anyone can tell that Ron Paul is most certainly not polling in the single digits for opinion polls in general.
Now, why should proponents of a democratic voice put more weight into the media’s “targeted polls” which haven’t had a good track record for predicting primary winners in the past anyway?
Have a look at this:

- Posted by Ron PaulThe media is against Dr. Ron Paul. We can all agree. But one thing Mr. Paul has, and that is youtube.com!! Just go to youtube and the facts are there. not much need for searching. The media isnt working in Dr. Ron Pauls favor, but youtube will, since it’s not being completely controled by the government. yet…

I contend that media heads are grossly underestimating the grass-roots support for Dr. Paul. Everywhere I go I see Ron Paul signs and only Ron Paul signs, and mostly home made at that. He is the most talked about name I hear anymore.
My friend is a publisher for ROKON Magazine in Seoul Korea; he tells me that he thought Paul was the only one running, and that the American soldiers were requesting articles about him. I was playing an online video game with a gentleman in Pakistan the other night. He was staying in his house because of rioting outside. He asked me if I knew who Ron Paul was… I did. He told me that he is the focus of many a conversation there lately. They see Ron Paul as a logical humanitarian, and I think he’s right.
Coming from a large military community, a US Army Veteran myself, I am only hearing two names from military friends and family, Hero John McCain and Patriot Ron Paul. The conversations seem to heavily favor Ron Paul. As an Engineer, I travel frequently. In technology sector circles, every political conversation I hear includes Ron Paul. Not that they all favored Dr. Paul, but more he was the gage against which the issues are debated.
I would wager that more teenagers know of Ron Paul, than George Washington. He has received donations from more individual voters, than all the other republican candidates combined in Q4. That’s why I predict Ron Paul will place third or better in Iowa, and first place in New Hampshire.
Authentic, humble and honest, Dr. Paul stands out as an intellectual giant amongst his status-quo peers, is now the Rock Star celebrity of American politics, do in part the obvious bias against him in the media. We American’s love underdogs and that will be weighing heavily in Dr. Paul’s favor come Election Day. It has become popular to donate to Ron Paul. It’s like he is putting on a rock concert, and the tickets are selling out. -Fast!
Consider if political campaigns were businesses making IPO, Paul’s campaign would be The Darling of Wall Street. His quarterly revenue growth curve is unmatched, and with 135,000 separate donors in the last quarter alone, its potential is off the charts!
“Hedge your bets gentleman. Expect the unexpected from Patriot Ron Paul tomorrow, I certainly do!”

It is extremely obvious that the controlled mainstream media is ATTEMPTING to shut-off DR. RON PAUL from the American population. Reuters and other Establishment pollsters should review their numbers as they are, unmistakably, inconsistent with the HUGE growing support displayed by the great American majority for this clean candidate, of unquestionable integrity who is defending the American Constitution and protecting the genuine interests of this nation and its people.
Even, the media calls him a “Political Phenomenom” as it is inded rare to find a honesty, capability and patriotism nowadays in in the Washington Established Order!

Notice the ignoring part is over.

Calling him a long-shot???
Sounds like they’re trying to fight him now!
Reuters, wanna place a bet on what comes next?
