U.S. Rep. Ron Paul — the soft-spoken Texan who has opposed the Iraq war and a ban on same-sex marriages — had something to cheer about in losing the opening round in the race for the U.S. presidency.
Though Paul finished fifth in the Iowa Republican caucuses, the 72-year-old maverick placed far ahead of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is running first in national polls.
With more than 85 percent of the precincts reporting, Paul had 10 percent of the vote compared to 4 percent for Giuliani who spent little time in the state. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee won with 34 percent.

Something to consider, I read a piece in the Canadian Financial paper the other day that stated the Canadians were worried that Ron Paul might be elected President. The reason they gave for their worry was that Ron Paul would institute Sound Money policies in the United States and it would make the U.S. so financially stable and so competitive on the global market that Canada would have to totally revamp their monetary system just to compete.
Imagine, the United States competitive again, prosperous again! Imagine that instead of being the Number 1 Debtor nation in the world that we became the Number 1 Creditor Nation again. Instead of being servants to those who lend to us we would once again be Masters of our own land and our future.
Ron Paul has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to economics and despite his detractors, his knowledge is based on common-sense monetary policies that would once again make the money you and I earn with our labor our property. Money use to belong to the person that earned it, that is no longer the case, the government controls how you make it, what you can do with it, and now keeps track of every dime you spend. Do we really want that type of country?
At one time your money was your property and the government respected the right you had to use your property. Ron Paul wants to restore the right of private property to the money you and I earn and take back the power of private property from the government.
If you believe that any of the other candidates either understand the economic problems we face as a nation, or have solutions to those problems then just ask them about the Federal Reserve and what they intend to do about the inflationary policies of that extra-government organization to restore the purchasing power of our money…they cannot answer those questions because they either don’t understand that there is a problem or they are so deep in the pockets of the special interest bankers that they simply don’t give a dang!
VOTE RON PAUL 2008…STOP THE THEFT BY THIS GOVERNMENT AND THEIR PALS AT THE FEDERAL RESERVE!
- Posted by RepublicaeYa know, for decades the people of this country have suffered at the hands of politicians who have sold this country down the river. The bureaucrats have burdened this nation and its people down with so many regulations, codes, laws, licenses, taxes that it is impossible to do anything without having to think about the government sticking it’s long nose into your business.
They have, through their policies and legislation, destroyed our manufacturing job base, allowed illegal immigrates to invade our borders, taxed us to the point that we must now work 6 months to pay those taxes, they send a vast majority of our tax dollars overseas while our own people struggle to make ends meet! They pay no attention to the voices of their own people while listening to the voices of special interest groups both here at home and from foreign nations. They have allowed the Federal Reserve to steal the wealth of the people through a fiat money system designed to lose its value through inflation while providing the government the ability to spend without restraint.
People who make $10 per hour today have the purchasing power of $1.84 in 1970, in other words your for every $100 you make today it actually has the same buying power as $18.40 dollars did in 1970. You think your wages have gone up, please don’t be fooled by a government that is in the pocket of the wealthy bankers of the Federal Reserve.
There is only one candidate that is not in the pocket of anyone and that is Ron Paul. He is passionate about restoring this country to the People, to tear down the walls that keep the People of this nation in a constant struggle. The other candidates offer nothing, none of them offer no solutions just empty promises.
We have been sold for a price that no one wants to think about, no one really wants to face, but much sooner then later we will have to face a reality that is unthinkable and that is the collapse of this fake fiat monetary system. What will you do when the entire monetary system that you have built your life around fails? No fiat monetary system has lasted over 40 years and ours is approaching that terminal point. All your investments, your savings, your pensions, your 401ks, your life insurance, government bonds and Social Security is completely built on a fiat money system that will terminate. If you think that the Central Banks can prevent it then just keep believing, keep voting the same ole establishment Democrats and Republicans into office, but if you want real change, change that will help secure the future of this nation and the future of you and your family’s well-being then vote Ron Paul in 2008.
I can promise you this, that if Ron Paul is not elected in 2008 then by 2012 we will all wish he had been!

- Posted by RyanWhy is the mainstream media so important? The internet starts to have an impact. By the way in the mainstream media we can’t even ask question and even those Youtube question were filtered, in order to fit into the picture “they” want us to see.
…ignore.
I get all important news directly from the international press agencies and not all of them are controlled yet.
- Posted by GuenterNo meaningful conclusions can be drawn by comparing Ron Paul’s showing negatively to Huckabee, for whom Iowa is merely a fluke, nor positively to Giuliani who wasn’t campaigning in Iowa.
The important thing is that in the last several weeks he has shot up FIVEFOLD from 2 to 10 percent. And even MORE significant is that tonight Mitt Romney, even with all his name recognition and free media hype, only received somewhat more than double the number of votes Paul did, instead of twelve times as many, as would have been the case had the contest been held when Paul was still at 2 per cent.
Ron Paul was the only Republican candidate besides Romney and Huckabee to win an entire county. The name of that county is Jefferson, appropriately enough since Paul has been called the Thomas Jefferson of our day. And in five other counties he got more votes than Romney.
This election season is often compared to a horse race, and it is thrilling to see a certain dark horse closing in so fast on the front runners!
- Posted by Richard BrodieHere in EU we are really zealous of Dr Ron Paul, we really need more politicians like him here. Americans who don’t vote for him don’t know what they are losing. You have a great opportunity to free your country by voting for Ron Paul, please use this opportunity!

Goes to show that the Republican primary race is quite volatile. The contest is still up for grabs, and the eventual nominee is going to have quite a challenge in rallying the party around a unifying theme!

Vote Ron Paul 2008
Black Box Voting is throwing red flags on the Iowa Republican Caucus
And with the Republican race, I wouldn’t look first at fraud in the number one position. I’d look for it in the area of repositioning candidates in the second through sixth spot.
- The delay in results is a red flag.
- The vote totals going down during the count is a red flag.
- The failure to release county results in live time, as promised in a Republican Party press release on Jan. 2, is a red flag.
- The failure to release precinct totals at all is a corrupt procedure. Note that the day before the caucuses, after much pressure, the Republicans did (belatedly) promise to release the precinct results on election night. They didn’t.
In addition: I’m trying to get information on whether the public was kicked out of the room during hand counting in all locations, or just some.

- Posted by Edie Calhounron paul did very wel in iowa. he needs to energize the young people in new hampshire. i believe he should focus in on the college towns. in particular his position on not taxing tips will sell well with students who work as waiters in restaurants, contacting the owners/managers of these restaurant and asking time to present their staff reasons to support him will result in a much larger support for him. people understand about those issues that effect them immediately.
- Posted by gary marcusI am more fired up than ever after this blatant media blackout. The powers-that-be are showing complete disrespect for Americans. They truly believe that the sheeple will remain clueless.
It is no coincidence that Ron Paul is the favorite of the Internet community - because we have unplugged from the matrix and can think for ourselves. We need to unplug the masses of sheeple. It won’t be easy folks. Go to the Ron Paul dot org site and sign up as a precinct leader. I did this today. I will do what it takes to make sure that my local community is won for Ron. That means going door-to-door, calling people, etc. I have enlisted my wife who has been apathetic about politics her entire life. I have even converted a democrat at work.
All of this Internet chatting is fine, the contributions are great, but at the end of the day only votes count. That is why the establishment favorites win - the machine can deliver the votes of the sheeple.
Keep up your hope. The sheeple are feeling uneasy. They just need to be awakened and educated one at a time. Win your community for Ron Paul!

Giuliani skipped Iowa altogether, and all the RuPaul zombies have to crow about is beating…Giuliani????
All you Paul-bots have been screaming is that the media and all the polling organizations were biased against your cult leader, and that the numbers were lies.
Guess what: FIFTH place!!!! 24 points behind the leader! Your hero got his a** kicked!
Face it: RuPaul has a lot of money to send out his message…but NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT.
Now get back to your basements, losers.

I’ll vote for Ron Paul. Definitely. Honestly, how can you picture
a future where the President of the United States has “Mitt” as a
first name?
Dr Paul, adhering to the Constitution, offers REAL CHANGE. And
imagine how things would shape up if he, like so many governors, had the power of a line-item veto. (Veto, as in “NO!”,
not Vito, as in the Corleones…)
Pick a number between 1-10. Now, please go out and talk to

McCain in a Q&A with reporters in Iowa essentially said he’d be good with occupying Iraq for 100 years. . .
Q: President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years — ”
McCain: “Make it a hundred. We’ve been in South Korea. We’ve been in Japan for 60 years. We’ve been in South Korea 50 years or so. As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed. That’s fine with me. . .”
McCain is stating that an American life is worth more than someone who happens to live in a different country. Also, how do you not lose lives if you plan to occupy a country for 100 years. Already over 650,000 Iraqi women and children have been killed from this illegal war. What kind of twisted logic is that???
Mike Huckabee is no better! Mr. Huckabee said “the way to end the (Iraq) war is to win it”. Huckabee has made this statement quite a few times. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME what Huckabee plans to ‘win’ in Iraq.
Why hasn’t a journalist questioned him on this? Americans would figure out Huckabee has NO foreign policy. A true Christian wouldn’t be so hypocritical & deceptive. A true Christian wouldn’t use religious symbols for personal gain. And a true Christian wouldn’t support such a dishonorable man like Huckabee.
Ron Paul is the only true Christian because he puts PEACE first. Ron Paul is the only true patriot because he puts AMERICANS first. He actions and his record speak volumes of his impeccable integrity and service to his fellow countrymen.
An American soldier speaks out. . .

Hey look Gigi. Bill Clinton only received 3% of the vote in the ( religious ) Iowa Caucus and still won the election!
Ron Paul has about a 50/50 chance of winning in New Hampshire. A 75% chance of coming in second and is pretty much a 90 % to get no lower than third place.
New Hampshire is historically the opposite of Iowa. Which means that the candidates who were leading in Iowa will be in for a very tough ride over there.
And last, there will be another money bomb day for Ron Paul. Be sure to donate as much as you can afford. Behind all of the MSM, bias, and un fairness against Ron Paul there is money. But guess what? What’s wrong with fighting fire with fire?
Money talks. Keep donating to Ron Paul and he’ll stay in the race. No matter who the MSM is controlled by, sooner or later when they realise that more and more Americans are willing to shell out the bucks then the MSM will start joining the fold one by one.
I’ve already seen 11 News Organizations nation wide start out anit Paul but are now Pro Paul!

PS. Doesn’t hurt to pray a little too.
- Posted by PeterWhy, why, why, when will the media hear our cry?
- Posted by J. SadlerI’m a real American and all I see, is that the media must be being paid off by someone, like in a 3rd world country. We have free press, and free speach. When will some news media stand up and report the real news, Ron Paul will win, because the real Americans want freedom, we have to get up and vote and be counted. The first media to join in, would have so many supporters, it would blow the others away…Who’s first…thats the new race….
To Randalph Bourne
Iowans love the status quoe and are less given to doing their own thinking than the avererage. I hope you are wrong ang Dr. Paul will clean house in some of the bigger more conservative and liberatarian states.
I live in Iowa so I know the people here. They used to follow kronchite like lemings, now it’s Russian Limblahblahblah.
- Posted by Sid MunfordI am just wondering why we, as Americans, made the Media so rich, and how we allowed them to do this to us?
I am seriously afraid for our children.
I have never followed conspiricy theories, but I surely am recognizing media conspiricy since I decided to support Ron Paul.
God please help us all.
