Republican Ron Paul flies high above debate

rtx5fo1.jpgMYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Ron Paul was flying high before Thursday’s Republican presidential debate here.

We’re not talking about the gadfly libertarian candidate. We’re talking about the blimp.

“Who is Ron Paul?” read the sign on the white dirigible that circled high above the Myrtle Beach Convention Center before the squabbling at the debate.

“Google Ron Paul,” it said as an explanation.

Paul, of course, is the Texas congressman running for president on a libertarian platform that calls for pulling out of the Middle East and abolishing the Federal Reserve.

That message hasn’t gained much traction with mainstream Republican voters, but Paul has drawn fervent support from a net-savvy cadre that has raised millions of dollars and flooded online message boards with praise for his candidacy.

The blimp was launched in December by supporters unaffiliated with the campaign and who saw it as a way to skirt cumbersome campaign-finance rules.

At the debate, the giant blimp didn’t prevent Paul’s rivals from attacking his anti-war stance.

“I think Congressman Paul should not be reading so many of Amedinijad’s press releases,” former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said after Paul questioned whether the United States was being too militaristic toward Iran.

Perhaps they’re just jealous.

The Established media believe that the average American is to stupid to think for ourselves. Ive known about Dr. Paul for years. He has more economic savvy and character than all the other candidates combined. Hannity was shocked when Dr. Ron Paul was shown to have won the debate. But again we’re too dumb to decide such debates. Its time for the real grassroots to get off our complacent butts and support Dr. Ron Paul. SPREAD THE WORD AND SEND YOUR MONEY, WHILE THERE IS STILL SOME VALUE LEFT IN THE DOLLAR!!!!!!!

While Dr.Paul’s isolationist views may appear to be a clean alternative to the quagmire we are in right now, the whole idea of pulling completely out of the middle east is misguided and naive at best, pandering and dangerous at it’s worst.
Just what tool would he use to guarantee our country has access to oil, the key commodity that fuels our economic engine. By pulling completely out of the Middle East, and ending longstanding alliances, he would most assuredly be the harbinger of change he so often is proclaimed to be. The end result would be less oil (at a higher price), for heat, electricity, plastics and associated products. Has he once given a comprehensive plan to alleviate that dependence on oil before he pulls us completely out? NO. Has he put forth any plan at all in those regards?

His much ballyhooed voting record is just as scary. Sure, he has a very consistent record, one of not voting. An absolute abdication of his elected duties to represent. Representation through absence, hardly someone we need leading our country, as that is not leadership.

If you want to ensure we send our country down a path heading towards full blown economic depression, then just elect Paul, the candidate for REAL change.

Ron Paul won the text message debate on Fox News . Did you hear it mentioned or see it anywhere ? Hannity said Ron Paul did not win,he denied his own shows results. This is because the major networks don’t like his views. Paul is the only one who tells the truth without the politics in my opinion

Excuse me…but aren’t you people in the Press missing something here? you have done a short piece on the main candidates - and invited comments - NOBODY has spoken about ANY of the candidates EXCEPT RON PAUL, his story has 134 comments!

When I first heard about Ron Raul last year and learned about his message of limited government I didn’t think he had a chance. Americans prove time and time again that they want the government to take care of them from birth to death. We have an opportunity to elect someone who will actually live up to his word. Ron Paul has a congressional record that shows us he is the man for the job. He has been saying the same things for the past 20 years. Go Ron!

Dr Paul is the first honest sincere human being I have seen run for public office. His ideas resonate in my soul. This nation is in trouble and he is THE ONLY ONE addressing the root of the problems. Political correctness will only make it worse. He received the first political contribution I have made in 61 years. Wake the @&%#*&@$ up. Read learn or suffer more of the same. The free lunch is over.
