Imagine. A courtroom in a middle American city, a seasoned judge noted for his knowledge of US law and a jury comprised of twelve level-headed, rational Americans to hear the evidence - and ultimately - to render a verdict. With the prosecutors and defense team poised to go forward, in walks George Bush and Dick Cheney, charged with dereliction of duty, conspiracy to defraud the American people, manufacturing intelligence evidence and engaging in an illegal war.
Fortunately for the accused, arrogance, beligerence and stupidity aren't crimes. And international war crimes will be addressed elsewhere.
Considering the magnitude of the crime - and the shear consquences - millions of documents, thousands of hours of video tape and a parade of witnesses will be examined. The records of over 4,000 US military deaths won't be considered because of it's prejudicial nature and no family members may be heard. The death records of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians won't be introduced either. In fact, the evidence is vague because the figure wasn't considered to be important, and the mounting numbers weren't tracked, but could be as large as one million.
At the trial's conclusion, after all the testimony, documentary evidence and underlying motives, the judge instructs the jury and no surprise to the scholars and the legal community, both defendants walk free.
Simply stated, the ex-president and vice president of the Unted States broke no laws.
Welcome the the American political machine. Any wonder over 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam - for absolutely no reason?

I don't see that Cheney is offering anything more than most of the other Republican presidential candidates.... oh wait... There is already a bill in the house for his impeachment and many documented crimes while Vice President. Does he want to add to the list?

Go Ron Paul!

Post #22 calls himself "realist", but fails to realize the preceding sentence nullifies his misplaced charge of 'bias':
“That’s better than some of the things I’ve been called,” Cheney said, drawing more laughter.

Yes, because outside a group of demonstrators chanted, “Fire the liar, impeach Cheney.”
No smug, Faux News-like myopia there at all, 'realist'.

And it has been proven time X time X time again,
that DICK CHENEY IS A *LIAR*.

And a treasonous, murderering war criminal, to boot.

Liberal bias, you ask? How about clinching a seemingly "balanced" story with:

Yes, because outside a group of demonstrators chanted, “Fire the liar, impeach Cheney.”

What gets me is the tired old mantra of "liberal media" coming from the ignorant. They call CNN "Communist News Network" and NBC "Negative Broadcasting Company," etc. (meaning, negative to the conservative agenda). How do they account for Fox and the so-called "liberal media"? Well, they claim Fox is balanced. I always ask my conservative acquaintences who the "liberal" is that has his or her own show on Fox? Who's the Lou Dobbs of Fox? Count them up, folks. Count the centrists and right-leaning and far right "news" anchors and "journalists" and ask how they stack up against the ONLY (and I do mean ONLY) liberal news anchor/journalist to have his own show--and that is Keith Olbermann. Don't give me Brian Williams or Chris Mathews or Wolf Blitzer or Joe Scarborough or Katie Couric or Tucker Carlson or even Dan Abrams--they're all trying to be "fair," but come off pathetically transparent. Name one other true liberal in the media--television or mainstream newspaper. One name. Olbermann. So please, please, please, please stop with the "liberal media" bullshit.

Dick Cheney is singlehandedly responsible for setting back the Freedom of Information Act and government openness 20 years. The 'executive' orders signed by the Bush Administration over the past 7 years have effectively disabled any measures the FOI act gave citizens to discover information about the government they pay for with their hard earned tax dollars. The fact that the Open Government Act passed this year is absolutely astonishing considering the administrations resistance to it. They've no doubt left loopholes in to effectively disable this new act too. The country is demanding openness and transparency in the government, and Cheney has done everything he can to prevent that from happening. What are you trying to hide, Mr. Cheney? Quite frankly most of us can't wait until you are out of office.
