McCain racks up a belated endorsement

mccain2.jpgSEATTLE — John McCain hasn’t won the Republican presidential nomination yet, but he’s inched even closer now that he’s secured the endorsement of a California official – three days after winning the state’s primary.

Steve Poizner is the California state insurance commissioner, and he could help deliver the hotly contested California insurance vote to McCain. Except McCain won the California primary as part of his Super Tuesday sweep that all but assured him the Republican nomination.

Poizner’s endorsement also came one day after top rival Mitt Romney dropped out of the race.

“Whether in the U.S. Navy or the U.S. Senate, John McCain has time and again demonstrated his courage, character, and integrity,” Poizner said in a press release. “He is also a proven leader in the fight to bring transformative change to Washington. I am proud to endorse John McCain for president.”

McCain has yet to secure the endorsement of the Coos County, New Hampshire, Superintendent of Snowplows, or the Tallahassee, Florida, Deputy Assistant Sanitation Commissioner.

Mr. Sullivan, as good of a reporter you are, perhaps you need to do a little more research as to whom Steve Poizner is, and how important a role he might play in the general election for McCains California strategy. He and Governor Schwarzenegger are the only two Republican statewide office holders in California, both moderates, and both easily won their statewide elections in 2006, when Republicans were taking a drubbing across the nation.

Poizner is reportedly the leading Republican nominee for Governor in 2010, when Schwarzenegger is termed out, and, probably more importantly, can deliver big money to McCain. Poizner is a very very wealthy individual with a huge network of friends.

Just thought id point that out. A quick wikipedia glance on Poizner shows a background that is pretty compelling.

It looks like John Mccain will be gop’s nomination, we democrats like that because he will be easy to defeat this november. Those republicans are so stupid the only candidate that would have given us a hard time is Ron Paul, but thankfully it will be a “cake-walk” from here on out. A democrat in the whitehouse means healthcare for my whole family and I don’t even have to pay for it!! Thanks America!!!

George Bush supports McCain. Need I say more?
Bush is no Republican.
This equates to a loss in the General election.
A guaranteed loss.

Who can stand up against Hillary or Obama?
It’s not Huckabee.

I invite Romney supporters to become part of something BIGGER than this year’s election.

It’s a movement to restore the Republican party to it’s roots. Kicking out the posers, taking back the party.

Vote Ron Paul..We need you, more than ever.
