Clinton press corps gets commodious workspace

AUSTIN — The press corps that follows Sen. Hillary Clinton found themselves on the eve of the Texas primary working in the most remarkable conditions to date — amid toilets and urinals.

While Clinton met with voters at a televised town hall meeting, the reporters and photographers watched from inside a locker room at an Austin recreation center, complete with full, exposed porcelain bathroom facilities.

The jokes abounded, from a campaign “in the toilet” to a press corp “flush” with excitement to campaign “leaks” to the unprintable.

One man, a voter attending the rally, wandered into the locker room, clearly looking for a bathroom and froze in his tracks, startled to find a couple dozen reporters typing away at laptops.

“These accomodations should in no way be taken as a commentary on the quality of our media coverage,” said Clinton campaign spokesman Doug Hattaway. The campaign arranges work spaces for the traveling press corps.

Maybe this shows the same contempt for the press as for the voters. You are kidding aren’t you? Well I’m no fan of her either:

“TRUTH”, Keep using Obama’s middle name because it exposes you for the ignorant and biased racist fear-mongor that you truly are. Hillary Clinton has been, and will continue to drive her own campaign into the ground by using the same fear-mongoring campaign tactics that George W. Bush and Karl Rove used in 2004. The way Hillary has run a Republican Neo-Con attack campaign has made me go from being undecided, to voting for Obama. Plus look at every single national poll done on the two Democratic candidates versus John McCain. In EVERY SINGLE National Poll taken, Obama does better against McCain than Hillary does. In fact, McCain would beat Hillary by almost 6 percentage points. If you’re looking for a common sense reason to pick one of these candidates, vote for Obama, because he has a much better chance at winning the general election for the Democrats than Hillary does. This exactly the reason that Right-Wing talk show hosts in Texas and Ohio are urging Republican voters to go out to the primaries and caucuses today and to vote for Hillary! They are open primaries so Republican and Independent voters can legally do this! Look it up if you don’t believe me. They know they will beat Hillary!!! I don’t want another four years of a War-pushing Republican! If you don’t either, then Vote for Barack Obama!!!!

I agree with TRUTH. Do not risk it. Being of Asian descent, my heart is with Obama. I have experenced abuses by some whites. Yet we have to know more of Obama. My head tells me this time around Hillary should be the Nominee. McCain will be President for sure if Obama is the nominee.

I am an Asian and like Daniel K, I too empathise with Barack Obama. However, I admire Hillary immensely. With her experience, poise, network. intellect and mental strenght she will be an excellent President. She has Bill, who despite his faults was a successful President. This is a bonus if Hillary wins the Presidency. Obama has time on his side and when he has acquired sufficient exposure and experience, he will be President in the not too distant future.
