How ridiculous! This man is the worst presidential candidate we have ever seen, bar none! No experience, no credentials, no 'new' ideas, NO CLUE. And this latest gaffe shows his true nature of bipartisanship-- he has none! He could learn a few lessons from McCain on how to run an ethical campaign. Obama cannot walk the walk, he only talks the talk!

I am sure the urban youth of America are very proud of this ghetto talk.
Obama should encourage them to throw their guns down rather then bring them to a fight.

funny... G.W. say's "i'm a war president" and he gets re-elected. Obama makes a play on words (referring to the old adage 'bring a knife to a gun-fight' and suddenly he's Hitler reincarnated. "keep this man out of my state" you say. that sounds pretty darned fascist from this screen.

this reminds me of the story i just read about the $5 bills that are circulating with "let's keep the white house white!" stamped on them. all the talk about black people over-reacting to racism, and racism being primarily a thing of the past will be proved to be what it is...justification.

thank God for Obama. his campaign is going to flush out the hidden racist in all of you. it's already begun. he's scrutinized like a lab-mouse in a cage. and anything he or anyone he knows does that can be taken out of context and blown out of proportion will be.

this man's a better candidate than we've had in decades. the only problem is he's black (so you automatically begin to use words like "gangster") shame on you Amerikkka. GROW UP!!!

I would have immediately understood Barack Obama's metaphors (name or description of a circumstance to which it is not literally applicable), of saying that he would be ready with the "knives" of verbal self-defence, and the "guns" of returning the abuses wrongfully showered on him by his Republican opponents who are masters at that. America must become more literate.

Obama is taking the presidential campaign in a predictably ugly direction when he starts using the language of the ghetto to make his point. I doubt that the McCain campaign would bring a "knife" to any fight. Sen. McCain has said that he will run an ethical campaign, and I believe him. Obama's latest hyperbole only serves to illustrate his true mindset. He came up through the dirty street politics of Chicago's South Side, and now it shows.

The South Side, in case any of you don't know, is the grimy underbelly of Chicago. It is full of drug dealers, whores and paroled felons. East 57th Street, near the University of Chicago looks like something out of a Fallujah, Iraq guidebook. And this is where Obama made his political bones. This is where he built his base.

It is therefore no surprise that he would express himself like a South Side "gangstah" when attempting to motivate his followers. You will hear more of this from Obama. And then he will turn around and, through surrogates of course, call every criticism of himself "racist". This is going to be a very interesting campaign season.

It is eerily reminiscent of Hitler's rise to power in 1930's Germany. A seeming buffoon who the liberal old guard thought they could control, Hitler rose to unprecedented power by labelling every attack, every criticism not "racist" but rather "communist". Then he advocated violence to silence his political oppostion. Any political opponent who brought a knife to a NAZI gunfight was dispatched very quickly indeed. The labels are different, but the tactics remain the same.

Obama most certainly must have read "Mein Kampf" before planning his campaign. He appears to be following the same blueprint. It is no surprise then that this is the kind of political campaign he is contemplating. Given his political origins on the South Side of Chicago where such practices are quite common, none of this is surprising.

Watch the Video Clip — "The Untouchables"

It was a joke!!!! Remember Obama made an unfortunate remark about bitter and guns in reference to Pennsylvania, which is where he made the statement.

All during the primary in Pennsylvania there was the Hillary and Rocky the fighter theme that people in Pennsylvania liked. They liked the concept of "tough."

It is a line from the movie "Untouchables" with Kevin Costner and Sean Connery.

See the video at the NY Times:

Assuming that this web log facilitator has his facts straight, then this is kind of a stupid remark for Mr. Obama to make (at most) or a poor choice of words (at least). Perhaps he was trying out "preemptive" rhetoric.

If Mr. Obama wins the states that the democrats have won in the last 4 presidential elections running, he already has 248 (92%) of the 270 electoral votes needed to win.

By comparison, if Mr. McCain wins the states that the republicans have won in the last 4 presidential elections running, he has only 135 (50%) of the 270 electoral votes needed to win.

I refer to: usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/electoral-vote-tracker.htm

This election is Mr. Obama's to lose. He didn't get this far by saying stupid things. I hope that he gets back to normal...quick.

I read somewhere that Mr. McCain is going to stick with Mr. Bush...instead of abandoning the incumbent president, as Mr. Gore abandoned Mr. Clinton in 2000.

In 2000, Mr. Gore lost by 5 electoral votes, i.e., 266 to 271 for Mr. Bush. This was after the majority of judges on the supreme court forgot which branch of government they were appointed to, and ignored states rights. Mr. Bush basically lucked out because Mr. Clinton couldn't keep his pants zipped.

In 2004, Mr. Kerry lost to Mr. Bush by 35 electoral votes, i.e., 251 to 286 for Mr. Bush. This was during the early stages of a counterinsurgency in SW Asia that should never have happened. Mr. Bush lucked out again, considering he pulled the biggest foreign policy boner in recent history. The problem for Mr. Kerry was that he voted for what ended up becoming the counterinsurgencies in Iraq/Afghanistan...and Mr. Bush managed to persuade a majority of voters that Iraq/Afghanistan would not be another Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos.

Here we are in 2008...and in the middle (or perhaps the late stages) of the same Iraq/Afghanistan counterinsurgencies that look and feel like (and are) another Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos.

The economy is in a recession. Gas and oil are at surreal highs (i.e., SURREAL). Houses are being foreclosed on left and right because of the usual greed that has been rampant in America since the go-go 1980's...when the top marginal federal income tax rate was reduced from 70% to 28% for the privileged class (and increased for the middle class and working class).

Mr. Bush's administration is impotent in both domestic and foreign policy.

The rich continue to get richer while the poor continue to get poorer. The middle class continues to shrink, as folks slide down the slippery slope into the working class. Folks in the working class have been sliding into the poor class.

The privileged class and super privileged class have been only slightly wounded by all of this. After all, what's a little less self-indulgence here and there more or less?

Did I say that this is Mr. Obama's election to lose...if he makes remarks that aren't who he is, i.e., if he makes stupid remarks?

You know, the Eagles fans may be rowdy and speaking from personal experience, the drinking and foul language is a bit much at times, but "guns and knives"????

That's right up there with the "bitter" comments, if you ask me, and you just don't say things like that in a city that has a crime and murder rate like Philly does.

When Hillary was there, she was concerned with getting Mayor Nutter funding to get more police officers on the streets. When obama is there, he tries to play the gangster role.

Someone please keep this man out of my state.
