McCain says bandage on head due to “low-hanging roof”

FRESNO, California — Republican presidential candidate John McCain had a bandage on the top of his head on Monday, but McCain said it was not due to a new bout of skin cancer.

“It was a brush with a lowmccain3.jpg-hanging door,” McCain told reporters at a news conference at Fresno State University.

McCain has had four instances of melanoma — a potentially lethal type of skin cancer — and various other skin growths have been taken off his body over the years.

McCain, 71, said he bumped his head getting out of a car during a visit to Canada last weekend. He said his head “hit the roof a teeny bit.”

McCain was just being modest. Actually, John McCain secretly donated brain tissue to his good friend and fellow illegal alien rights activist Ted Kennedy. Senator Kennedy’s doctors hope that the brain tissue transplant will help the 76 year old Senator Kennedy fight a malignant brain tumor.

Mr. Holland…

I think that the Rowse comment is in bad taste.

I think the disputed comment was made as a metaphor for low IQ.

I agree with that.

Actually, this is a terrible cover story about a potentially serious issue. Let’s actually think about it rather than just consume the story.

Have any of you bumped your head getting out of a car? Other than the soft ceiling liner, there’s the cushy rubber weather stripping at the edge. Now, if you were looking straight up (and I mean straight up) just as you stepped out of a car, and then you fell backward toward the car, then it might be possible to hit the dull, wrapped end of the steel body. But you would get a bruise and a few foul utterings out of it, not a cut. And how would you get TWO cuts—would you do it twice?

Another nominee for the Gerald Ford/G.W. Bush Hall of Stupidity (good thing there weren’t any pretzels around).

Re: Michael’s comment
I had wondered the same thing. I mean, worst case scenario maybe a big bruise or unsightly friction burn, but not something that needed to be bandaged. A bruise could have been covered up with make-up…

I’ve banged my head a time or two, Michael. It’s certainly possible the story is a cover-up (pun intended).
I’d have to see some ‘before and after’ pics before I decide if I care what McCain has under the bandaid.

I have to agree with Michael. Something’s not right. I hope for his sake it’s not another skin cancer scare.

How do you know there are two cuts?

Despite Steve Holland’s finest efforts to dissuade me from voting for McCain, I look forward to voting for this TRUE war hero andpatriot. Holland is just another liberal hack whose zeal for All Things Democratic Party clouds his judgement. Hey Steve, when you set out to write news articles, um, try acually writing news articles instead of turning the “news” into your personal op/ed page. Try being a little more objective; your focus on McCain’s bandaid and on his age are thinly veiled attempts on your part to discourage voters from voting for him. Unfortunately for you and for Reuters, I’m going to vote for McCain. In fact, I’d probably vote for any candidate nominated by the Republican Party just to piss you off, and of course to do my part to keep Karl Obama (I’m sure you get the reference, Stevie) from becoming President.
