One thing this 2008 election has clarified for me is the elephant in the room being exposed. For many many years we have danced around racism in this country, and some still are rationalizing. But I am glad the mask is finally being pulled off and showing the world how phony this country is as it preaches its hypocrisy to other nations. That is why our credibility is so low. We will never gain respect and become the nation we are capable of being until we learn to respect and appreciate the intelligence of those who don't look like us. I hope we have not sunk to the "dumbing of America". We need help from everyone who can intelligently give. So for those of you who would rather continue the policies because you can't deal with someone who doesn't look like you, welcome to the bridge to nowhere.

Fern - I hope your comment was only intended to provoke and that you don't actually believe what you've written in a literal sense. If you meant it, than I would say that you win the prize for the most ignorant comment, not to mention the hypocrasy that is encapsulated between your first and second paragraphs: "joe, do you realize that Alaska has about 700,000 residents, and that Wasilla had less than 9,000 when Palin was Mayor? And you probably didn’t realize that she hired a city manager to do all the real work, except for the hiring of her friends and the firing of her enemies." It looks like you have not checked the real world facts - only the liberal fantasy facts. Maybe you should go to Alaska and warn the 700,000 residents who overwhelmingly approve of Sarah that they have dreadfully misjudged her and that with your wise guidance they can achieve great unhappiness and bitterness and then all will be well. Keep up the good work Fern!

The constant liberal attack on Palin while not even mentioning Bidens major errors, which there are many, is disgustingly one sided. Biden indicated that there is only 3 percent of the oil reserves in the US while we use 25%. We do not use 25% of the oil reserves. We use 25% of the yearly consumption of oil. Why hasn't the liberal news media picked up on that. Also we have more than 3% of the oil reserves if you include the areas the liberals have fought to keep us from being energy independent. Another Biden blooper. Then there is the fact that Obama has taken the second largest financial donations of all senators from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, even though he has only been in office 3.5 years, and was responsible for the lowering of credit requirements that has caused the financial melt down. Why hasn't the liberal media mentioned this. Where is the factual reporting? Where is the fairness in the media. The biased bull you see in the so called mainstream media is angering to me and many of the the folks I talk to on main street. As usual you will see on election day that the polls tooted by the so called mainstream media were wrong and as slanted as their news is.

When will the dim wit republicans get it that political parties are NOT sports teams? Loyalty to a party is not like rooting for sports. Your life, your home, your family- everything is at stake in whom you vote for, what they support, and who supports them. You would not hire an accountant, a business manager, a life insurance salesman, or a teacher because they were "pretty", looked like you, wore blue and gold, threw a football well, or were "regular". You want the best person for the job at hand. Period. Ignorance in this country is what is defeating us, and will cause our fall. The blame is clear.

During the debate with Biden, Palin looked like a girl taking her first driving test after heavy coaching, though allowed to drive her pre-learned route, not the tester's one.
Biden looked like a professional GreyHound bus driver, calm, skillful, and reliable one.
The question is who we, the bus passengers, would prefer to drive our bus, especially on current steep slope roads, and considering her far better chances to get to the wheel, if elected?
I would get in with Biden at the wheel, never with her: why risk your life even if a driver is cute?

fern- wake up. i said nothing about voting for anyone. i simply commented, similar to goatboy's post above you, that the extreme insecurity of so many on the left manifests itself in these posts. for you and others to come down on a woman for working hard, getting the votes of the people, and serving her country- furthermore blaming HER for the mccain camp CHOOSING HER as the vp pick, says far more about your own personal issues of insecurity than any issues sarah palin might have. don't you have something better to do? bitter, angry, sad people-

I'll dmit that Obama is no perfect candidate but compared to the Republican choices, he looks intelligent, calm, and informed. I'm not fond of the idea of Obama as president, but damnit, Mccain/Palin is the last thing I want to see in office.

If anyone out there doesn't see that Obama is the next George Bush they are living in la la land. He's exactly like Bush in the way that multitudes of people are following him over the cliff with out questioning who he really is. If he wins, everyone who votes for him will be embarassed to admit it in 4 years. Just like Bush.
