Obama “The One”? McCain camp spoofs rival with trinket cufflinks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Good or bad, you can’t accuse the John McCain campaign of not having a sense of humor.

rtx9b61.jpgThe Republican presidential candidate’s staff handed out cufflinks — yes, cufflinks — on Tuesday to surprised reporters with an unexpected decoration on top: a mock presidential seal for rival Democrat Barack Obama and the Illinois senator’s web site.

That’s not all. On the back, carefully engraved, were the words “The One.”

Subtle? Not so much. The Arizona senator’s aides often poke fun at the messianic quality they feel Obama assumes and his supporters accept. Both sides have grown increasingly negative as the campaign enters its last month and McCain finds himself slightly behind in the latest polls.

Obama used a faux presidential seal on a podium at a campaign event earlier this year, drawing some ridicule and criticism for being presumptuous. He never used it again.

The Obama camp was not amused.

“People are struggling, and they want to hear about what these candidates are going to do to fix the economic crisis,” Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said. “It’s unfortunate that the McCain campaign is instead focused on these silly distractions.”

McCain needs to learn he’s no Robin Williams! And with the state of the nation as it is, it’s no TIME to be Robin Williams either!

I think McCain has watched too much Batman because every day he looks and acts more and more to me like the Joker of the Rpublican Party. Everyone I know who wears/wore cufflinks has long passed on to the great beyond. His mocking, arrogant, snide (I could go on and on) behavior is unbecoming of the presidency. Obama handles him very well, never getting angry (which probably gnaws at McCain’s bully mean streak). From reading his books, I can tell that Obama is full of compassion and empathy - probably from his mom, the strongest presence in his early life. He can make the jump to see through McCain’s eyes and he understands why McCain acts the way he does. In a way, Obama probably feels sorry for him, but at the same time is firmly resolved, as I am after studying up on both candidates, that Obama is the one with the “cool hand at the till,” ready to finally lead us into the 21st century (but first through this global crisis). Cufflinks during a global financial crisis. The man never ceases to disgust me.

Man, I would love a pair, to go with an Adlai Stevenson shoe pin. That would rock.

OMG I was floored by the “that one” comment. I was neutral going into debate trying to listen to everything taking my vote seriously but that comment was so degrading and immature. Shows how out of touch Mccain is.

Cufflinks? In an economic crisis he hands out a Wall Street Investment banker gift? Oh, Main Street wears cufflinks?

I guess that’s why McSame referred to Obama as “The One” in the second debate. It was part of a pathetic theme …

Looks like the Republicans are about to bottom-out ..
now their mocking “hope” itself and taking away what little the American people have left after 8 years of their gross mis-management.

When the McCain-Palin ticket is finished attempting to destroy Obama’s character hopefully they have enough civility to gracefully lose this election and fade into obscurity.

I’m an Obama supporter and I want a pair of those! Actually two pair — I’d like one set to wear and the other set will sell quite nicely on Ebay on Obama’s inauguration day.

Cufflinks?! The McCain campaign is confusing its candidate with Dwight Eisenhower. Has anyone worn cufflinks in this century?

If BS were money, Sarah Palin could bail out Wall Street all by herself.

Perhaps that is why John McCain called Obama “That one” during the debate.

Halarious, this is not called a sense of humor, this is ridiclous, tacky, and disrespectful. But again, this is how Republican rolls. They are disliked globally and it shows nationally. Go Obama!!! Put McSane out of his misery…See you in Washington!!!! Cause he is the one!!

To quote the film “The American President”:
“We’ve got serious problems, and we need serious people….This a time for serious people, (John McCain), and your fifteen minutes are up.”

In what alternate universe is McCain only “slightly” behind??

What a petty high school thing to do. These republicans have always been stupid, now the rest of the world knows they are.

I pray that the smarter and stronger Americans help those weak and less intelligent ones out by informing them about the propoganda and race bating-republicans.
