COLUMBUS, Ohio - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama needs to bulk up.
The former bodybuilder and action movie star, who was campaigning for Republican presidential candidate John McCain, said he would like to invite the lanky senator from Illinois to an annual body building expo.
”I want to invite Sen. Obama because … he needs to do something about those skinny legs,” Schwarzenegger told a rally in Ohio, saying Obama had “scrawny little arms” that needed work too.
”We’re going to make him do some squats.”
Obama goes to the gym regularly and plays basketball to stay in shape but often endures ribbing for his slim physique.
Schwarzenegger, whose wife, Maria Shriver, supports Obama, said the Illinois senator didn’t need to work on his body alone.
“If we only could do something about putting some meat on his ideas,” Schwarzenegger said to roaring applause.
”Now Sen. McCain on the other hand, he’s built like a rock.”
McCain was finishing a two-day bus tour through Ohio, a key battleground state that he must win to beat Obama in Tuesday’s election. Obama is ahead in the polls.

SCHWARTZENNEGER had a heart attack and heart surgery. He is just in his 50’s.
His physique is not healthy.
the joke is on the GOP. They are all about libel and making fun of opponents, but they have no solutions. California is $7 billion in debt, thanks to Arnie.
- Posted by bruce beckerif this campaign was all muscle, the governator and his GOP counterparts would be heading for the WH.
But its all about the economy, the health care system that the GOP’s have done a great deal to rip apart….
- Posted by nkaineSchwarzenegger is an admitted and unapologetic steroid user, bruce. That’s why his body is shot to hell, and he’s probably going to die in a few years. You can’t abuse drugs as much as he has and expect to live a normal lifestyle afterwards.
- Posted by bobObama can whip Arnold’s thick ass any time on the basketball court. Any fool can stand in one place and bulk up. It takes an athlete to sink 3-pointers. Obama moves with grace and physicality, while Arnold lumbers like a rusty pickup truck. Obama understands team-work, Arnold understands being “Mr. Universe.” Check out the YouTube videos of Obama in Kuwait.
- Posted by BethSince Arnold is sinking the State of California, how is he one to talk about Obama? Check the math for those out there who don’t understand, California is worse off financially and other ways than before Arnold came on as Gov. Where’s the Beef Arnold?
- Posted by Willie ReighArnold is just a fake. Obama has a healthier look, very trim and climbs the stairs with grace and strenght. Since there is nothing bad to say about him, Arnold makes a fool of himself by giving such a shallow criticism. Arnold get lost!! there are not fools outhere!! only you and McCain..
- Posted by MariThe GOP should be glad that this election isn’t based on physical appearance or strength…. This idiotic comment just goes to show how desperate the Republican party has become.
- Posted by ChristineWho cares what some washed up, flabby body builder. Mcshame is about as healthy as our economy. I can tell from Arnold that his wife Maria has the brains in the family cause she supports Obama. Mcshame/pail-in/bush are all in the same boat, and that boat is sinking slowly, turn on the bilge pump Mr. Magoo!!!
- Posted by DarrellLets see how Obama run rings around the 20th century robot on the basketball court, and shortcircuits the beef between those ears. Which third tier college did the robot graduate from, if any?
- Posted by W.JenObama supporters are so self-centered, absurdly resentful, and it must be since they see the world as if it were two dimensional. Success should be celebrated regardless of part affiliation and corruption should be rooted out for the same reasons. Courage should be admired, and both McCain and Palin have shown a great deal. Stop and be fair for just a moment. Whose voice was loudest against mistreatment of prisoners, who screamed for Rumsfield’s firing, who votes against his party on immigration - McCain has as much in common with Bush that Obama has with Lieberman.
- Posted by mindnbodyIs he serious?? Has anyone seen those pix of Arnold walking on the beach wearing a speedo: 220 lbs heading south. Obama will look much better at Arnold’s age.
- Posted by AndrewArnold’s comment shows how out of touch he rally is. Bloated “American” thinks size is the answer for everything. It’s this kind of mentality that has bankrupted the country. It’s time for lean ……….
McCain and Palin are the poster children for courage? Sure thing if you define courage as actions of bombastic bullying campaign tactics, rabble-rousing bigotry, hate-mongering and lie-spewing stump speeches, promoting politics predating on fear and ignorance, and ethical bankruptcy.
McCain sold his dignity, honor, courage and credibility to the Republican Party eight years ago. Palin never had a respectable leg to stand on and is just a one-trick pony willing to say or do anything to feed her insatiable, self-aggrandizing ambitions for power and public adulation.
Schwarzenegger’s acting skills are better than his governing talents.
- Posted by KateIf Schwarzenegger could bulk up the California economics as much as he bulks up his mouth, maybe we’d listen to his comments. Tough boy, talking behind Obamas back. That’s Arnolds best style, tough boy, Arnold, hiding behind the press.
- Posted by MuleskinnerI used to like Arnie - he’s the governor of my former state and did a fair job considering many have left because jobs decreased. But it’s pretty slimy for him to joke about Obama’s physique (or lack of…) because it has nothing to do with the issues. Obama could probably tell Arnold to get back to us in 10-15 years to teach us about long term effects of steroids. Arnold is okay, but he’s still a Republican, and sometimes those two things really fight each other… Glad his wife is for Obama - we need a change.
- Posted by ChrisGOVERNOR PALIN HAS MORE EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE THAN ANY CANDIDATE. SHE IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR WHO OFFERS CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. JOHN McCAIN SHOWED GOOD JUDGMENT IN CHOOSING HER AS HIS VP.
WILL OBAMA’S ACORN ORGANIZATION DETERMINE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT VIA VOTER FRAUD? THAT’S HOW HE BEAT HILLARY DURING THE PRIMARIES!
BILL AYERS (AND HIS WIFE) DEDICATED ONE OF THEIR BOOKS TO SIRHAN SIRHAN — THE MAN WHO ASSASSINATED SENATOR ROBERT F. KENNEDY.
WHAT DO ROBERT, JR., TEDDY AND CAROLINE THINK OF OBAMA’S ASSOCIATIONS WITH TERRORISTS AND RADICAL ANTI-AMERICANS — AYERS, ACORN, KHALIDI, REZKO, FARRAKHAN, WRIGHT, PFLEGER, ETC.?
REMEMBER — JEREMIAH WRIGHT (”GOD DAMN AMERICA”) SAID OBAMA WILL SAY ANYTHING TO GET WHAT HE WANTS!
I VOTED FOR THE HONORABLE JOHN McCAIN. HE HAS SPENT HIS ADULT LIFE SERVING OUR COUNTRY.
STOP THE DRAMA - NO OBAMA!
USE YOUR BRAIN - VOTE McCAIN!
OBAMA HAS SPENT HIS TIME IN THE SENATE “RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT”! Obama’s Job Pays Him While Not Working. He Must Think All Jobs Work That Way. THE NON-WORKING DEADBEATS WILL RECEIVE A REFUND. THE HARD-WORKING TAXPAYERS WILL HAVE A TAX INCREASE!
WE NEED TO REPLACE DO-NOTHING DEMS IN CONGRESS (PELOSI, REID, KERRY, DEAN, ETC.)
An Iraq Veteran speaks to Obama, a must see!!

- Posted by CAROLINA TARHEEL!Schwarzenegger claimed he wanted comprehensive health care in CA, the McCain branch of the Republican Party took it off the table.
Schwarzenegger claimed he wanted better mileage and emissions laws in CA, the McCain branch of the Republican Party blocked that in Washington via the EPA.
Obama is actually the candidate who would put there policies into law - so Schwarzenegger supporting McCain proves that he wasn’t too serious about his proposals - it was all just steam, smoke and mirrors, for him. We need to remember this the next time he runs for office.
Whata Schwarzenegger really proves here is that he’s just a lot of steam, a smoke-and-mirror artist, who claims to be for a lot of things that we need, but won’t bring them thru. Hot air - no substance.
How else can he support McCain’s policies?
When Schwarzenegger runs for office again, we need to vote him down, and instead elect someone who will actually get done what he claims he’s for.
Schwarzenegger - a sad case of big mouth, no substance.
- Posted by fbla1805First off, Arnold did not have a heart attack, he had a congenital heart valve problem that was corrected. He did very well with this birth defect. But he’s not running for president. A man with decades of experience and a freshman senator is.
Obama’s tax the rich and corporate america plan will throw us back into the GREAT DEPRESSION. And if that doesn’t do it, then new regulation and “reward the worthless(workless)” programs will. America thrives on free enterprise. Take away the reward and there will be no motivation for success. But isn’t that what every socialist wants? Everyone to be the same. Earn the same, and be rewarded the same. I’ll see you in line waiting for my one roll per week of government toilet paper.
- Posted by ChrisThe Re-bum-lican Party has already brought us to the gates of another Great Depression, keep that in mind. Now McPain would have us believe he has solutions? I mean he’s been around a long time hasn’t he, if he were going to do something for the US economy, where is it? McPain’s party has DESTROYED our economy; DESTROYED it! They don’t need anymore chances. If they get into office, believe middle class America will pay, so that the wealthy can keep more of their embezzled money. Obama 08!
