WASHINGTON - The Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl so it’s a black-and-gold kind of day.

NBC aired more of its Sunday interview with President Barack Obama who says “nobody’s cooler than my two girls.”

He wouldn’t say outright whether the government was going to announce creation of a “bad bank” to scoop up sour assets from bank balance sheets, but the message was stay tuned.

Lots of action in the Senate today where debate starts on the stimulus package and on nomination of Eric Holder for attorney general. Former Senate colleague Tom Daschle, who had a bit of a tax issue, is expected to appear before the Senate Finance Committee about his nomination to be health secretary.

At the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, Obama will meet with Republican Gov. Jim Douglas of Vermont to discuss the stimulus plan in the morning and then holds a meeting with congressional leaders in the afternoon.GROUNDHOG DAY/
