In case you’ve not been paying attention, the White House is feuding with Fox News.
In the latest salvo, President Obama’s senior political adviser David Axelrod told ABC’s “This Week” that Fox’s programming “is not really news” but “pushing a point of view.”
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel echoed those remarks on CNN’s “State of the Union” program Sunday, saying Fox “is not a news organization so much as it has a perspective.”
The White House began pushing back against Fox’s coverage of the Obama administration a week ago after the president won the Nobel Peace Prize.
White House communications director Anita Dunn noted that conservatives who were “rejoicing” over Obama’s failure to bring home the Olympics seemed “quite bitter” about the Nobel prize.
“Fox News often operates almost as either as the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party,” she said.
“What I think is … fair to say about Fox, and certainly it’s the way we view it, is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party,” Dunn said.
Karl Rove, former President George W. Bush’s political adviser, told “Fox News Sunday” the White House was dominated by “Chicago-style politics.”
“If you don’t like the questions that are being asked by Major Garrett or Wendell Goler or Chris Wallace, then you try and demonize Fox News,” Rove said.
News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch saw a bright side to the White House attacks.
“There were some strong remarks coming out of the White House about one or two of the commentators on Fox News,” Murdoch told an annual meeting of News Corp. shareholders. “And all I can tell you is that it’s tremendously increased their ratings.”
Despite all the back and forth between the two sides, the White House says Obama will accept interviews with the network.
“We’re going to appear on their shows,” Axelrod told ABC. “We’re going to participate, but understanding that they represent a point of view.”

What does every one think will happen if the Obama White House is successful in hurting or stopping Fox’s Reporting? If the administration found out that they could control the news by a war on a news channel how long before they turned their sights on CNN, CBS or ABC? Then we would have only one network that would be controlled by the Obama Whitehouse and would be forced to watch one single government controlled news channel NBC or MSNBC. Just a thought.
- Posted by Just a AmericanI think he truly sees himself as a victim. He disregards how the other networks have treated previous presidents or how they still treat Republicans on Capitol Hill. He ignores the fact that the tougher that Fox News gets on him and his administration, the softer that the big three networks, CNN, and MSNBC get in their coverage of the “maligned” Chief Executive. He feels mistreated and misrepresented, and he wants the world to know that Fox News is the one in the wrong here. He is absolutely blind to the cover he has been / is provided by the Popular Rule on a daily basis. He wants to focus on the “biased” coverage he receives from one network while he takes for granted through his divine providence the favorable coverage he receives from everybody else.
What the president seems to overlook here are two glaring points that he either ignores or is blissfully ignorant to. One is that maybe – just maybe – Fox News is providing a valuable service to the nation by offering balance to the News world that has been Left-Leaning for so long that it began to hardly even notice; and two that maybe Fox News is simply a shining example of capitalism at work. There is obviously a demand for their version of news reporting and if there were not, Fox News would likely be filled with programs chasing Hollywood actors around town with the hopes of catching a bad hair day.
I am not foolish or naive enough to believe that Fox News is “Fair and Balanced.” I can see their Right-Leaning message for what it is. What Liberal Progressives like President Obama cannot now (or ever) begin to understand is that we as Republicans or conservatives have the ability to perform this clever little trick where we see the tilt in the news we get from media outlets. We developed it through years of filtering through all the Leftist propaganda that was pumped down our throats by the other networks before we had Fox News to turn the dial to.

It’s not about freedom of speech Jim, it’s about accurately reporting the news. Fox is free to say whatever they want, and they do, but their “reporting” is weak and one sided.
- Posted by Eric HThe rise of Fox News goes hand in hand with the decline of American Education.
The dumber we get, the higher their profits will go.
And if anyone hasn’t read my earlier comments on this blog, I hate Obama so don’t try and use the “Obamaniac” cop out on me.

I’m getting pretty sick of the White House trying to neutralize and/or marginalize everyone with a point of view that doesn’t line up with theirs.
This summer I attended a town hall meeting on healthcare reform. I went to this meeting because I got an email invitation from Obama For America. It said that my senator would be there to talk about healthcare reform. She wasn’t. The meeting wasn’t about healthcare. Etc., etc.
I wrote to my newspaper expressing my disappointment. The next morning they had a front page article about how the right wing agitators were stirring up the senator’s constituents who were trying to access her regular constituent service hours held at various places around the state. She said that the right wing should be ashamed.
Huh? FOX is certainly not the only one with a viewpoint. So I don’t believe any of the media-they spend all their time telling us how to think instead of telling us what to think about. Instead of reporting news, they spend at least 23 hours a day interpreting and rehashing the same stories.
And as for the president, he is obviously not interested in being president of the nation-only president of those who think just like him or won’t express any dissenting opinions.
- Posted by SickofMarginalizaingIs there really anybody out there who doesn’t think that Fox News is a Republican network? The only people that I have ever heard tell me that they think the channel is balanced in their news coverage are Republicans. If you are a Democrat or a moderate independant and you truly think Fox News provides fair and balanced news coverage, please say so. I fully expect the silence to be deafening. Also, Fox said that they cover the news and then offer editorials and that smart people can tell the difference. Well thank you for the vote of confidence Fox News, but when every single editorial you offer sounds like Rush Limbaugh cat nip, I don’t think you can call yourself fair and balanced.
