A neighborhood of around one hundred buildings with more than 800 small rooms is one of 14 official brothels of Bangladesh; in essence a prison for around 900 sex workers. The young sex workers of Kandapara brothel in Tangail must serve at least 10-15 customers each day. Being a “Chukri’ or bonded girl, they are bound to follow the orders of their Sardarni (House owners, who were previously prostitutes and purchase girls to run their business). Photographer Andrew Biraj documents the underworld of teenage prostitution in this gallery, personal account and multimedia production. 20 PHOTOS

If you can do a story on these girls, and take pictures it means you could have also done something to help stop this and didn’t and that makes you a sick individual as you did nothing more then stand around and watch knowing these were nothing more then children being forced to have sex. Hope there lives were and are worth your watch.

“that makes you a sick individual as you did nothing more then stand around and watch knowing these were nothing more then children being forced to have sex.” LOL is he Rambo? Defending the moral superiority of christan America? What is considered “Normal” changes over time and place, if your 40 and have sex with a 16 year old is it “Normal” for you to be sent away to prison for 40 years and then be marked for the rest of your life?

All you have to do is look at the eyes of these girls, and you will see that what is happening to them is not “normal,” no matter what time and place it happens to be.

Believe it or not but this not uncommon in these parts of the world. It is a very sad truth that these girls are forced into this life. In poverty stricken areas like this many families will sell there female children even for a little food. Females have pretty much have no rights there compared other countries such the US. The author of this article did he job, he informed us what was going and to get involved and stop this. I for one have been interested in this for years now, trying to figure out what I can do to help with this problem.
