Money managers under the microscope

Petite hedge fund WLTM larger partner…

May 20, 2009

Finding the right partner can be difficult, which is why matchmaking can be helpful.

rtr1w6ckThat’s precisely what recruitment firm Alpha Search Advisory Partners is attempting to do with its Hedge Fund Consolidation practice, launched today.

The unit, which aims to provide “confidentiality” and which boasts of its “extensive network of potential partners”, will work on behalf of hedge funds “seeking strategic partnerships with other top investment managers” with the aim of cutting costs, creating economies of scale and combining assets under management.

“The hedge fund industry will be undergoing significant consolidation, and now is the time to talented managers to join forces,” says Robert Olman, managing partner of Alpha Search.

With pressures on the industry in the form of dwindling assets and increased regulation, a number of hedge fund firms have already joined forces in one form or another, including Cheyne Capital and Altedge, and GLG and Pendragon. Now could be a good time to find your perfect partner.
