U.S. Air Force to amend helicopter competition
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Michael Moseley said it was critical to keep the program, the Air Force’s No. 2 acquisition priority, on track, to avoid the need for upgrades to keep the current Vietnam-era fleet of HH-60 helicopters flying.
You say the HH-60 was a Vietnam Era aircraft. This is incorrect. The HH-60 “Blackhawk” was built and deployed in the early 80’s. It was designed specifically to replace the aging vietnam era UH-1 “Huey.”

Thanks. We corrected it to say “Reagan-era,” instead: GBU Editor
