Michelle Obama gets “fired up” as a campaigner
Supporters crowd around Michelle after her husband’s stump speech, and she takes time to hear their stories, answer their questions, and urge them to vote for Obama.
Did you see Obama’s comments referred to as a ’stump” speech on television? I’m sure you know what a stump speech is and that it is a racist statement. How dare a newsperson go unchallenged with such a remark. Then, four white pundits and a white woman speaking about race? How insane and ironic.

Oh, please. The term “stump speech” has been a part of political campaign coverage for a long, long time, and can be found in any modern dictionary. We use it, and so does everybody else.
I am aware that the phrase had a meaning connected to minstrel shows the century before last, but it’s about time to let that go, don’t you think? GBU Editor

The Eternally Offended will never let ANYTHING go! Remember the stupid lawsuit against Southwest Airlines? The racial overtones had been generationally lost by the time that flight attendant said, “Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, FInd a seat - We’ve got to go!” The EOs, however will never forget and will look far and wide for something that in the depths of history was originally related even slightly to a past grievance.
In this case, I have great doubts that even 1% of the population have any idea that the term “stump speech” has it’s origins in traveling minstrel shows (I know I didn’t, and I know a lot of word origins), but this EC the EO, will be happy to point that old relationship out in order to have an excuse to be offensive.
