Those mannequins don’t really make it a good picture then does it? We say in the caption the flame was welcomed by cheering children, but here in the picture we don’t see any of them but only serious faced mannequins. More over I am not sure what the mannequins were doing during the ceremony at Tiananmen Square.

- Posted by NRCMannequins aside, the caption seems to indicate the Olympic torch has arrived in Beijing already to the cheers of children. I may be wrong, but isn’t the torch still in transit, with the final destination being Beijing? I would guess this image was taken during a rehearsal ceremony and the stiffs in the background are just stand-ins for the real public.
- Posted by MIchael MillhollinThe mannequins appear to be in a shop window. The policeman is standing in front of a department store. If you look closely, you can see the price tag on the right-hand mannequin’s shirt and the reflection of the tree in the glass.
And according to various sources, the flame went from Athens to Beijing, then left Beijing to travel on a relay. It will return to Beijing in about four months.
