Obama CIA choice won’t call waterboarding torture

WASHINGTON, Jan 22 (Reuters) – President Barack Obama’s choice to head the CIA declined on Thursday to call waterboarding “torture,” only days after his attorney general nominee condemned the interrogation practice as precisely that.

In this article you state Obama’s choice for head of the CIA, Retired Admiral Dennis Blair, won’t call waterboarding torture. Correction: Dennis Blair is Obama’s choice for Director of National Intelligence, not the Head of the CIA. Leon Panetta is the nominee for head of the CIA.

Good catch by the reader – but what I find far more disturbing is the discrepancy of views within Obama’s administration (and possible future administration).

David Fox’s brisk analysis of 25 years of civil war in Sri Lanka is concise and brilliant. Congratulations. Padma Rao
