McCain defends Palin against Letterman

Letterman joked that a Palin daughter, presumably Bristol, 18, had sex with New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez during a baseball game the ex-vice presidential candidate attended. Bristol gave birth to a child last year fathered by her former fiance.

Your story contains a major factual error. Mr. Letterman was not referring to Bristol Palin (18 years old), but rather Willow Palin (14 years old).

Mr. Letterman clearly directed his comment toward the Palin daughter who attended the New York Yankees game with her mother and this was Willow Palin.

I am saddened to see that Reuters editorialized this story by saying that Mr. Letterman was “presumably” referring to Bristol Palin, as he was not.

Tex

Why are you helping Letterman spin his alleged joke about Willow Palin into “Well, maybe I was talking about Bristol” when Bristol Palin was not within three thousand MILES of the baseball game Loserman was “joking about.” WILLOW, the 14-year old daughter was there. SHE was the victim of his “humor.”

D.W.

A number of readers felt that our first story on this incident cut Letterman too much slack by ignoring the controversy about which daughter he was talking about. We did weigh in yesterday with another story that spelled out the issue in detail: GBU Editor

Sarah Palin didn’t seem to care one bit what was suggested about her daughters in 2008 when she was on the Presidential ticket to be VP. After SNL live ran a comedy skit suggesting Todd Palin was incestuous with his daughters, Sarah Palin not only didn’t demand an apology but didn’t voice any opposition at all, she even appeared on SNL one month later which helped SNL’s ratings.

Conan O’Brien made distasteful jokes about her daughters, worse than the letterman jokes, Jay Leno did also, not a peep from Sarah Palin. Her running mate John McCain made a Joke about Chelsea Clinton back in 1999 and said, quote- “Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.” Should McCain apologize to every young woman in America?

However calling a girl ugly doesn’t hurt the self esteem of girls and women, but a late night comedians jokes which are not to be taken in a literal sense at all, does.

Sarah Palin is a drama Queen, she put her children on the national stage to be scrutinized, the jokes were distasteful but Palins sincerity is appalling. She voiced NO outrage at SNL suggesting in a skit that Todd Palin was incestuous with his daughters, she even appeared on the show one month later to help her campaign gain votes, politics over ethics, now she is outraged.

What if Letterman had said: “One more facelift, and Nancy Pelosi would have a beard”?

I don’t think Sarah has seen this video, or she would not have allowed John Ziegler to be the guy in charge of the Letterman protests.

Why is Sarah “pallin’ around” with John Ziegler, a proven woman-hater?

… troubled economy throughout the country, war, uncertain politics, everyday chores and straggles of citizens, ever growing need for solutions…
Yet Letterman is chasing after teenage girls.
David! Get a life!

Mr.Letterman
It does not take a talent or skills or even education to become a fault finder.
Media is polluted with such personnel.
It does require to be an intelligent person to solve a problem.
Just ask yourself where do you stand?

This whole thing is stupid, i dont know if anyone has ever seen a late night talk show before. But jokes about politicions and family is common ground.

This was just another way for Palin to get her face on tv.

Maybe Palin shouldn’t have peraded her underage pregnant daughter all over the country when she was running for VP… that right there made her vulnerable to jokes! All kids she be off limits but she made the mistake of doing that much.

Attention please: MEDIA, bloggers everyone ignore PALIN completely.

Palin 2012 ?!
Let’s hope this is the end of the David Letterman - Sarah Palin feud. While last week Letterman apologized, it was in a snarky sort of way, and wasn’t accepted by Palin…

Of course Letterman was talking about Bristol. Most thinking people knew it from the start, but for those who didn’t, he has made it very clear since then. If you don’t believe him, it’s because you simply don’t want to. That said, I don’t like the joke being made about Bristol either. She has put herself out there, however, as the spokesperson for Abstinence Only. That makes her a celebrity in her own right, not just Gov. Palin’s daughter. I guess this joke goes with the territory, but I still don’t like it. I like the Palins’ reaction to the joke even less, though. See Bill’s comments above. Fake outrage for political purposes is disgusting.

COMMON ON PEOPLE. SARAH PALIN IS JUST LOOKING TO MAKE MONEY. DAVID LETTERMAN DIDNOT WHICH CHILD WAS WITH SARAH AT THE YANKEES GAMES. BUT THE FACT ARE HER YOUNG DAUGHTER GOT NOT UP RIGHT UNDER HER ROOF. BECAUSE SHE LET THE BF SLEEP WITH HER DAUGHTER IS WAS UNDER THE AGE OF 18. LETS FOCUS ON THE HUGH PROBLEMS WILL ARE FACING. AND IF YOU WANT A LEADER LOOK FOR SOMEONE WHO READS DAILY AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE ISSUES WE FACE INTO TODAYS WORLD.
