Canada’s PM sets May 2 election

BRITAIN/Harper spoke after visiting Governor General David Johnston — the representative of Queen Elizabeth, Canada’s head of state — to seek the dissolution of Parliament.

The Head of State of Canada is Queen Elizabeth II, not Queen Elizabeth.


Our style is to refer to her simply as Queen Elizabeth unless there is some reason to make the distinction, as in the photo caption below.
