Good, Bad, and Ugly
Reader reaction to Reuters news
Old news…
They are already married, and have two kids together. They got married August 25, 2001. So in the future, maybe you can clear your information before writing such nonsense…..

Your screw-up has already been commented on the frontpage of second largest Norwegian newspaper.
Canada, not Canadian
I am a Canadian citizen who does not share her citizenship with geese. The reporter clearly states the plane may have hit a flock of “canadian geese”, to pluralise these birds, it is quite simply put as canada goose for one and canada geese for two or more, to call them canadian is to give them citizenship. Just thought you might that info for future.
A proud Canadian
Several readers pointed this out to us, just as they did the last time it came up: GBU Editor
“..it is quite simply put as canada goose for one and canada geese for two or more..”
Two or more could also correctly be referred to as a “Murder” so hopefully we will not see any misleading headlines (abet technically factual) such as “Canada Murders a Welcome Sight” etc.
She’s not tipsy…
I clicked on one of your video reports today at Yahoo.ca. Might want to let your reporter or voice-over folks know that the foreign minister of Israel’s first name is Tzipi, not TIPPSY.
If you can’t get that right, one wonders what else you aren’t getting right.

Yes, we pretty badly butchered the pronunciation of her name. We have pulled that report from our site: GBU Editor
The wrong song…
Who makes the Obamas dance? Stevie Wonder!
Who makes the Obamas dance? Stevie Wonder! They also sang with Beyonce as she performed “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”
Beyonce sang “America the Beautiful” not “My Country Tis of Thee.”

With the current Obama Administration, whether we like it or not, people expect immediate changes. People expect noticeable changes. People want to see the economy soar. People want foreign issues resolved. What they don’t get is that Obama will just be the beacon of change, the leader, the guiding light. America needs to work together to bring the country back to its former glory. A change in the administration does not entail problems get any easier.
To quote the President, “And this WE CAN do. And this WE WILL do.” The administration promises that the dreams and hope to do the impossible can be done if Americans come together and act on the catchphrase, “YES WE CAN”.

Not 30 countries…
G30 says broken financial system needs fixing
NEW YORK, Jan 15 (Reuters) – The Group of 30 countries on Thursday called for changes in international financial regulation to help avoid future meltdowns, but its recommendations were vague and non-binding.
Your story incorrectly states that the G30 is a “Group of 30 countries.” It is not. The Group of Thirty is a group of individuals from the private and public sectors and academia from a variety of countries, but not thirty countries.
Please correct it.
Wrong time frame
Australia refuses Japan on whaling activist block
Japan will also come under pressure to end whaling at a meeting of the IWC next week in Chile, with anti-whaling nations to argue that the yearly cull of close to 1,000 whales poses a threat to species still recovering from near-extinction.
The meeting in Chile to which you refer occurred last June. Please see here and correct this and future stories: Caroline P.
Wrong kind of gang
Eastwood wins box office race with ‘Gran Torino’
The suburban drama, in which Eastwood plays a grumpy old man who takes on Latino gang members “Dirty Harry”-style, earned an estimated $29 million in the three days since it opened nationally on Friday, distributor Warner Bros. Pictures said.
The grumpy old man in the movie doesn’t take on Latino gang members. He takes on Asian gang members. I don’t even have to comment on how bad the mistake is for reuters…

Fire evacuation numbers
Fire forces evacuation of 11,000 homes in Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. (Reuters) – Three windblown wildfires have destroyed at least two structures, jumped a major road and forced the evacuation of 11,000 homes outside Boulder, Colorado, fire authorities said on Wednesday.
Your story contains a major error: 11,000 homes WERE NOT evacuated. That is the number of homes that were alerted to the fire through the reverse-911 system.

Basterdized spelling?
August date for Quentin Tarantino World War II movie
The director’s oddly spelled World War II epic “Inglourious Basterds” stars actor Brad Pitt, and production began in Europe in October.
What, no spell check on your typewriters? It is clear that no one with any knowledge of English wrote and/or edited the Quentin Tarantino story.

Sickened by pet food?
Salmonella outbreak sickens 388 across US- CDC
Salmonella-contaminated dry pet food sickened at least 79 people, including many young children, in October and November.
Your story says pet food sickened people. Is this for real? Or is it a blooper? May I be first to declare it!

The story reported so very recently recalls one back to mind which was in the Seattle Times about 1970.
A young man jaywalked before a police car. He had no id, and was being written a ticket. The man gave his name, and then his address. The policeman asked him to repeat it, and then told the man to get in the car.
The young man asked him why. The policeman told him he was being arrested for giving false information, as the address given was his home address.
This is what I call, “Psychic backfire”.

The 18-year-old from Achim, a town of 30,000 in northern Germany, admitted he had lied when the officer explained that the address belonged to him, said police in nearby Verden.
“It was complete coincidence,” said a police spokesman. “The thief gave that address because he’d once lived in the house. The policeman was the guy who moved in afterwards.”
