Erroneous Giffords report
US Rep. Giffords shot dead in Arizona, gunman held
TUCSON, Ariz., Jan 8 (Reuters) – U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona died after being shot in the head while meeting constituents at a grocery store in Tucson, NPR reported on Saturday.
Giffords, a 40-year-old Democrat in her third term in Congress, was shot point blank by an unidentified gunman who fired indiscriminately into the crowd, NPR and other U.S. media said.
Your reporting without adequate confirmation that Congresswoman Giffords had died when she was, in fact, still alive was irresponsible and represented an appalling lapse in judgment and journalistic professionalism. Being first is never more important than being right.
Please remember that.

We used the NPR report that Giffords had died in line with our practice of picking up reliable media on breaking news developments.

God was behind Big Bang, universe no accident: Pope
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – God’s mind was behind complex scientific theories such as the Big Bang, and Christians should reject the idea that the universe came into being by accident, Pope Benedict said on Thursday.
Benedict and his predecessor John Paul have been trying to shed the Church’s image of being anti-science, a label that stuck when it condemned Galileo for teaching that the earth revolves around the sun, challenging the words of the Bible.

He didn’t win…
Michelle Williams still asks why Heath Ledger died
The 30 year-old actress, whose romance with Ledger blossomed on the set of “Brokeback Mountain” in roles for which they both received Oscar nominations (he won supporting actor), said she had found “meaning in things and people and relationships that have sprung up and friendships that have strengthened.
You should correct the misstatement of facts in this article.
Heath Ledger did NOT win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Brokeback Mountain, he didn’t win anything at all, though many of us believe he should have. He was nominated in the Best Actor category but did not win.
Curbing rocket fire?
Kindergarten near-miss highlights Gaza risks
Hamas spurns permanent coexistence with the Jewish state, but its men have tried to curb the rocket fire from Gaza in recent years. Smaller groups continue to carry out attacks.
Why would you bias your news article with that statement?
How do you know Hamas leaders have tried to curb rocket attacks? To the best of my knowledge, they have tried to encourage rocket attacks.

Charlier said three “cutting wounds” were also visible, corresponding to the separation of the head from the body by a revolutionary in 1793.
Radiocarbon dating also gave a date of between 1450 and 1650, “nicely bracketing the year of his death,” the report said.
Pearl Harbor?
I have been looking over your site today and cannot find a single article relating to Pearl Harbor day in the U.S.
Am I missing something?
Eric
Yes. We had a nice feature on Pearl Harbor survivors on Monday.
Apart from that, I expect you’ll see more attention next year, for the 70th anniversary: GBU Editor
