An amazing pic…

Brian Snyder’s photo of Tim Lincecum, “An Ace for a New Era” in the NYT online edition, is spectacular.

The center point for me, was the clarity of the pitcher’s eye; the capturing of the white, of the hazel. And then, I noticed the mane of hair waving in motion. And all of this framed in the crick of his elbow and the drop of his glove. An amazing pic shot by a pro. Thanks.

Thanks for noticing. You may enjoy reading the photographer’s account of taking this picture, in our photo blog: GBU Editor

Not our place to judge…

gbu editor choice

Wish that the dear editor had done a little better job by saying at least one condemning or condoning word about that nasty looking clinched fist of the undercover Israeli agent, aimed at the eyeballs of the restrained protester.

I think you have the wrong idea. This feature is a collection of our best news photos, not a chance for an editor to give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down to the actions depicted in them: GBU Editor

What’s burning?

There is a widely distributed image credited to Reuters. Honest reporting dictates that you tell us what is burning in the background.

To be more clear, this was a protest against the planned burning of the Koran in Florida, and most of us believe that they are burning Bibles in the background.

Shameless mistake

gbu cusack 490

You know there’s more than one Cusack, right? You have a story about Joan Cusack, but you illustrated it with a photo of JOHN Cusack.

Yes. We replaced his photo with that of the correct Cusack: GBU Editor

The wrong actress…

gbu redgrave 490

That’s a picture of VANESSA you morons!!!

Ben C.

TONY AWARDSHey brainiacs…you posted a picture of Vanessa Redgrave.

Isn’t Lynn the one who passed away? Who’s your checker????

Why are you showing a picture of Vanessa with Lynn’s obituary?

You have a picture of Vanessa Redgrave over the obituary of her sister Lynn. How horrible.

We did it and of course lots of readers noticed. There isn’t much I can say to defend it: GBU Editor

Altered image?

Photo of Cheney

Cheney had mild heart attack: statement

cheney matcher300The picture you intentionally chose of the former vice president is disgraceful.

The man just had a heart attack, and you play political games.

Sorry, I don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s one of the most recent file photos we have of Cheney, and he’s in the process of giving a speech: GBU Editor

Piquant image…

Please pass on my congratulations to your photographer who took the picture of a ballerina smoking in a cafe in Zagreb, Croatia. As a former dancer, and life-ling smoker, i found it a very piquant image, beautifully shot with just the right amount of absurdity — and of course i emailed it to all my dancer friends!

Thanks for noticing: GBU Editor

I’m terribly sorry, but I must tell you I’ll never be looking at your site, or buying any Reuter’s news products in the future.

The UK Independent published a photo by Kamal Kishore on 10.10.07 of an Indian child making bricks, which I have kept ever since. I would like to find out more about where it was taken and the background.
