Bibi’s back as flak

December 30, 2008

Saying he was answering a request from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to help out with Israel’s “PR”, or public relations, during its current Gaza offensive against Hamas, right-wing Likud party leader Benjamin Netanyahu gave a series of interviews to foreign media on Tuesday, including Reuters in

It’s not every day that a leader of a country’s main opposition party serves as what journalists call a “flak”, or PR spokesman, in support of political rivals.

With Israeli military forces in action against Hamas, it’s a time for unity, Netanyahu explained, six weeks before Israel’s national election.

Since Israeli air strikes began in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, Bibi, as Netanyahu is popular known, has been taking a back seat to Defence Minister Ehud Barak of Labour and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, leader of the ruling Kadima Party.

Some TV time, even on foreign news stations — many of which are received by viewers in Israel — can’t hurt, especially when an opinion poll on Sunday indicated that Livni was chipping away at Netanyahu’s lead ahead of the Feb. 10 ballot.

Binyamin Netanyahu is a true hero of Israel and an outstanding leader who is poised to become Prime Minister on February 10, 2009. It’s natural that his support should be sought by the current government. Listen very carefully to Mr. Netanyahu and you will hear the voice of the Israelis.

You talk about 911, USA and Mumbai, India recently. Well how can the world stand by and not say anything about these Barbaric Jews actions on the our brothers and sisters in Palestine. Shame on the People of the World that … DON’T … ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ 12.30.08

A little pressure on the Palestinians never hurts at election time.
The Christmas attack was slick too. Certainly relaxes the need for PR to some degree as many occidentals are predisposed for the moment.
Isreal could steam roll Gaza end to end in a day if they wished.
Why are we sending so much aid to their military again?

More than 370 dead from the Israeli attacks in Gaza. Outrageous! There is no justification for this…round your enemies up, lock them behind fenced borders, prevent humanitarian aid from getting in? Is this not like Germany and the Ghetto. The nations of the world, especially the United States, need to open their eyes and do something about it!

Where were all these cries for peace and a ceasefire while rockets rained down on residential areas of Israel? Where were the protesters when suicide bombers had infiltrated Israeli territory after each and every concession from the gov’t in Tel Aviv? Where were the Islamic humanitarians’ pleas for relief when Hamas violently took control of the Gaza Strip? Why is it that only Muslims are allowed to be mad when someone gets killed?

These are the questions noboby is asking now that there are a few explosions and some lop-sided footage showing suffering in Palestine. Nobody in the Islamic world can see reality on this issue. Israel is a tiger, and when you catch a tiger by the tail, he will only run so long before he turns around, and meets you face to face. Hamas knows they cannot win against Israel, but they will commit every Muslim life they can towards that goal anyway. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is awful, but the Gazans have only Hamas to thank for that.

Mess with the bull, get the horns!

Thank you Bibi for explaining where Israel stands. While it is very obvious that no country can stand 300 rocket a day from its neighbor, Israel has shown a great civility in the face of radicalism of Hammas. It is equally interesting to watch the rise of islamic violence accompanied with justification from the media.

I do wish Israel to prevail and win its war against the extremism and uncivilly of Hammas.

Patrick you hit the nail on the head. Too many “moderate Muslims and Arabs” fail to denounce the terror of Al-Qaida, Hamas, and Hezbollah. Israel has the right and obligation to protect its citizens. Yes high numbers of Palestinians have been killed in collateral damage. But it is their fault for tolerating and even backing Hamas and the Jihad movement. If there truly are any peaceful Muslims they should help crush the Jihad for the sake of world peace. But many Muslims believe that Islam should be the only religion in the world. The Jihad is not just against the Jews but anyone who does not see Allah as God o’ mighty. There are terrorist cells or in the USA, Britain, Russia, Africa, the Philippians, truly every corner of the globe ready to strike. No one can say these or my beliefs because I am a Jew or a Christian supporting the Jews, because I am an Atheist. Any objective person can see Israel has tried to allow peace. But Israel continues to take non provoked rocket attacks. I don’t think Israel can defeat Hamas without cutting the head off the Dragon, which is Iran. Radical Islam and its sympathizers must be crushed. Radical Islam has infiltrated all societies and posses the world’s number one safety concern. Global warming is not the greatest threat to our survival it is radical Islam and its supporters.
Syam you are another misinformed Arab. I sure you ignorance has been preached to you since you were three years old. Radical Islam is very similar to Nazi Germany with very similar beliefs. Actually radical Islam had some of its starting tied with the Nazi’s, they were allies in WWII. Radical Muslims helped to recruit for the Nazi’s. They had similar interest in the annihilation of the Jews. Watch Obsession Radical Islam’s War Against the West.
It’s too bad so many media outlets only show one side of the story the Arabs suffering. They make it sound as if the Israelis actions are unjustified, when they are totally justified and should even be expanded before Iran becomes a true nuclear threat

The people of Palestine are fighting for their freedom and have been suffering for over 60 years because of a European problem of World War 2 where the displaced Jews of Europe have all ended up in Palestine becuase they need a Homeland. The Palestinians did have anything to do with the Holocaust where the Jews of Europe were murdered.

A little bit of propaganda goes a long way, regardless of where it comes from.
