In addition, Islamists have called for a boycott. StrategiCo. Risk analysis has marginally downgraded Algeria from 7 to 8 (on a scale of 14) ahead of the April elections. Unemployment is a major issue especially among the youth and the public investment programme is increasingly becoming hard to finance with the sharp drop in oil prices. Will geostrategic considerations be sufficient to enable the country to keep its relative stability?
