If you dont understand our metaphors or culture you are not qualified to comment on our political culture. I personally take offence to your statement “left even Australians bewildered” – what’s that supposed to mean?

The focus of the event should be about why the highly monopolized australian press would stage such a ridiculous stunt. What were their motives in commenting on such a tabloid style poll, does the PM have a nasty side? And actual “poll” figures in australia are rarely given, eg. how many people were polled and where?
And what are your motives for such an incredible attack on his character?

He was elected on a promise of “fresh new leadership”, appealing to both the green and blue-collar vote.

Since then, he has systematically taken each of his promises and cast them aside. At best, he has made barely noticable changes in the status quo.

Now both the unions and greens are starting to see that voting for the man has done absolutely nothing to assist them. Aside from being able to boast that the PM shares their views, even if it is only in word and not deed.

The rub is even worse for the conservatives. To lose government because of opposing ideology is bad enough. But when a supposed ideological replacement does absolutely nothing different from the last, the defeat is even worse.

Watch out America. Obama may just turn out to be a Rudd.

It is easy for a population to be so thrilled to ‘turn the page’ on a hated previous administration, that it neglects to see that the replacement is not living up to his claims.

I know he’s only doing it because his marketing advisors have told him to. But he’s still allowed to. Fair sip of the sauce bottle everybody.
