its impossible to express sufficient sympathy for those who lost relatives in this tragedy but megrahis release was necessary on several counts
1/ compassion
2/ the likelihood that he was innocent

relaives of the dead and those outraged by megrahis release should not be condeming scotland nor its justice secreaary they should be pressuring both the united states and united kingdom governments to tell the truth.
they should be questioning why the good old fbi, and notice that its director was outraged, paid millions of dollars to bribe witnesses to come forward and testify

can you ask all posters negative about megrahis release how they would feel if one of theis sons was convicted of a serious crime based on the testimony of witnessess who had to be paid millions to testify and whether they feel that such testimony would be irrefutable

When I found out he was going to be released i wasnt happy but then i realized that he should be and that he could be innocent. Theres only 1 piece of evidence against him and its not strong at all. Even if he did do it he didnt do it all on his own.

Well done to Scotland’s Justice Minister for releasing an innocent man!

While I’m sorry for what happened to the 270 people killed. Two wrongs don’t make a right and this was the right decision!

Both the British and US governments know it wasn’t Libya but Iran/Syria. People should be asking why the British Government has banned the publication of all papers relating to Lockerbie!!!

A prime example of the need to bring back the death penalty – this is encouraging terrorists – without this limitation on acts beyond the boundaries of normal behaviour in society anything can go – in 1957 one murder a year – now – hundreds – would babies be tortured and killed if the murderer knew they would in turn be killed – would 17 year old thugs, stab, stamp and kill, if they knew they would be killed – politicians are once again showing how morally corrupt they are – Blair, Brown, Millibrand, SNP and Scotland the brave – and before anyone asks – yes – revenge is sweet and necessary, even though it is a dish best served cold.

This sends a powerful, profoundly dangerous message to the terrorist world, which understands and respects only force, strength and resolve. Any culture too weak, too squeamish to execute a mass murderer (‘life’ sentences sound so much more humane and ‘compassionate’), then so totally irresolute it cannot even withstand plaintive wheedling to release him during the final (or maybe not so final) few months of his ‘life sentence’, has no future. It has no future, it lacks the will to survive, and the jihadists are right in this: when weaklings are the prey of the determined, the outcome is predetermined. Islam’s conquest of the West rolls on.
