It is tragic that Indian politics has failed to produce a series of healthy debates among the major political parties to produce top class leaders. The impotence of the BJP (in opposition to Congress) in the recent elections has allowed the surfacing of either raw inexperienced or feeble, octogenerian leadership--both dangerous for the future of India. Rahul Gandhi is energetic, but utterly inexperienced. He is groomed by mother Sonia on the strength of money coming out of Swiss banks, not on the strength of hard knocks of regional or national politics.
Ministry of Broadcasting will provide him a safe political haven, while experts will guide him to make the right kind of speeches. Let him grow independently in India's school of poverty. Don't draw him in the political game as yet under the protective hands of Sonia and the fawning aura of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Rahul could become too dependent to be India's future leader.

Should Rahul Gandhi join the cabinet?

I think, the question should be asked in other way. And that is:

Should Rahul Gandhi be offered a position in a cabinet?

And my answer would be:
"WHY"? Does he own the country called "India"? Does he have the qualification to run any cabinet portfolia? Does he really believe in Democratic institution?

We live in a different era and in 21st century. Let us come out of old mentality of 'making a person' more important then the country. If one analyses Rahul's different aspects and attitudes towards different issues of country and society, one might notice that his only occupation, aim and thinking is to use his family background and name to rise to top position in country to RULE and not to SERVE. Most the media people use the word 'YUVRAJ" for him and this shows where we are. Are we trying to bring old traditional "Raja-shahi" back and forget the struggle and sacrifice of 50 years of 20th century to make India "INDEPANDENT"?

Rahul Gandhi has to prove himself. He should have some definate thoughts and clear vision for the future of the country and not for himself. Let him have sometime to shape his thoughts and direction where he wants to take this country. Let us, all Indians, make sure that he has that capacity, vision and will to lead the country on the peak of prosparity.

And then, we should ask the question which is at the top of this discussion forum

Thanks

this is in reference to the previous post made by me....i regret the errors in grammar....what i meant was...A leader like Rahul gandhi who is a selfmade man in my eyes, even though he is from a policial family, will definitely work for the betterment of the country. Otherwise being from a “Gandhi” family why would Rahul Gandhi work in London with a Strategy Consultancy firm Monitor Group? Moreover, before returning to India in late 2002 he ran an engineering and technology outsourcing firm in Mumbai. He knows the real agendas of our nation.

I feel that instead of Rahul Gandhi, other young leaders should be given a chance.
now youth has shown faith in congress and congress should boost it by giving chances to people other than rahul gandhi, people who was there with congress in grim situation and not in power.

Yes, it is time for Rahul Gandhi to take up a cabinet post. Since he is Mr. Manmohan Singh's choice and out of respect for his Mother, Ms Sonia Gandhi, and with reverence to his Father,Grand Mother & Great grand Father, Mr. Manmohan must decide the post in consultation with the young Gandhi. This will help in building up the image of Mr. Manmohan Singh's team.

As it is he is more than a PM. He should be kept himself out of Ministry, working for Party mainly and side by side try to imbibe decency, which he himself having, amidst the
political workers, leaders of all the parties. He should be a idol to all. We require such a personality.

Nobody can question about his hardwork and honesty towards his designated portfolio, but another thing, is Sonia Gandhi is less powerful compare to PM or other ministers and now Rahul added, why they need portfolio?

As he has a strong family background, if you observe properly, all his young stars came from only strong family background, he did not considered or considering who are working for the partly silently and honestly without any background only for devotion and partriotism.
