Earth, Wind, Water and Fire:a flash of lightning: if the option, derivative, futures and off-balance sheet commitments are not closed out sooner than later, with an intelligent spin-off of tail-end profits and losses, we will go into ‘eta’, i.e. a very unfriendly ‘n’ with a long Greek tail (sic) downwards, in flames.a tidal wave: as with fiscal drag, there is socio-political-economic drag. We would wish that protectionism and Basle II washes over us.and a volcanic eruption: all so sudden, while the ‘world economy is just under $61 trillion in size; the U.S. economy is $14.3 trillion’, i.e. 23% - that makes sense, as 4% of the World’s population consumes 25% of the energy. Question – why is it then that the US can basically only export genetically modified staple foods and IT ? Where did the rest go ? Exported arms/wars ? Exported movies ? I know, the capital account debit = gold and dollar denominated foreign assets. The only volcano that may pop is Yellow Stone, sorry.Would that leave a hurricane or tornado as Wind ? The ‘winds of change’ that we need to get out of this stupid rut we find ourselves in ?Maybe we have been watching too many movies lately. Everything has to be so dramatic and ‘sudden’. What is this: a game of ‘sudden death’ ?
