@tiredmd - re "see how your dr. visits change while doctors peck away at keys, staring at a screen during your couple minutes with them"
My recent visits to my doctor, and a short stay in the hospital, both used EHR systems. My experience was much improved over earlier visits. I felt well taken care of, the doctor seemed more involved and asked me more relevant questions than before. It didn't bother me at all that she was using a computer.

Is it just me, or do conservatives loathe every single law and regulation on the books? As near as I can tell, there is not one they approve of, and they seem to feel that most are advancing the end of civilization. Or does this just apply to anything passed by liberals or Democrats? I would like to see some proposed solutions to anything that did not involve the simplistic idea that getting Obama out of office will make things wonderful.

I am thrilled to hear this and a proud obama radical. It's not about just physicians, it's about the patients above all else. I just spend many calls to my former doctor, trying to get them to dig up prior records for a procedure I had. They couldn't find it and didn't care. What a mess. Getting electronic records that I can access and take with me when I switch doctors is a great idea! Keep up the good work, Affordable Healthcare Act!! Doctors who can't move into modern technology need a swift kick in their collective behinds!

This article is written by an obama radical in regards to health care. This is another idea that they are essentially imposing on health physicians.

It is a failure. 1) see how your dr. visits change while doctors peck away at keys, staring at a screen during your couple minutes with them 2) this system is made more for billing and for keeping track of patients. it does not make information retrieval easier 3) when information retrieval gets harder, people lose interest in finding it.

This system is widely hated by 90% of physicians with which I work. I will be interested to see if it beneficially impacts patient results in any way. To this point in our experience with it, the answer is definitely no.

doctors tell me, and my experience confirms, electronic records are an easy way for insurers (private or government) to deny benefits as proven by studies to be ineffective, especially if not public health (political lobby) but merely helpful to some middle aged white men who happen to be sick, not young and poor. when you go to see a doctor better know your health situation, be able to answer detailed questions, do not expect anyone to check pages of electronic records, and just hope your doctor has time to listen.
