From my perspective, it appears that the Tea Party and OWS pretty much agree on the diagnosis of the problem (too much centralized control) but not on the prescription for addressing it (the Tea Party want to dismantle central control while OWS believe it can be perfected, if only the rules are properly/fairly rewritten). Both groups are ahead of the vast majority of citizens who either do not perceive or choose to ignore the problem.

In 2009, a cryptographer named Satoshi Nakamoto unleashed a decentralised cryptocurrency on the world. Trading independently for over 3 years now, it still remains as the leading weapon in preventing monetary tyranny.

Interesting article about the guy himself, but the title is misleading as it has nothing to do with Occupy. To the degree that there are any intellectual or organizational 'parents' of occupy wall street, this guy isnt one of them, or even known.

Thank you for this very informative (if almost tl;dr) piece.

Good to know that, whatever their substantive policy differences, OWS and TEA have some common genetic material. Combined, they could muster like 75% public approval - a force that cannot be denied its will. Unfortunately, they only agree on one issue - but that one is enough:

The forces of the status quo must be overthrown. If they could manage to unite on a package of electoral reform, and just a few other related things, there might be hope. Everything else can, and must, wait for that.

The headline of this article is extremely misleading. Hess renounced his right-wing views and became an anarchist. He embraced Emma Goldman and distanced himself from Rand Therefore, if he has any connection at all with the Occupy Movement (of course, he had no direct connection), it is as a leftist, not a right-winger. There are no right-wing roots OWS. Silly.

This article has a great deal of fascinating historical material

However, I'm an old friend of David Graeber, the anarchist anthropologist who apparently introduced the 1% vs 99% trope to Occupy Wall Street, and I do not think it at all likely that this was his source.

People seem to never look deep enough to see who is actually the driving force within an organization. Just as an example, and I'll leave out the org's name, there's a church you oriented group who spreads evangelical Christianity. I don't really have a problem with the group and some of the front line workers do really good things. The problem is that after some digging I discovered that the couple of individuals that founded the organization are against food stamps, welfare, help for the homeless. They want to cut spending on education and remove environmental regulations. They want lower taxes for the wealthy and higher taxes for "the free loaders." So before blindly joining a group or cause - at least do some research to find out who founded the group and why......

jp007 wrote, "The Tea Party and Occupy are thus natural allies but separated by the divide and conquer politicos of big government."

Only in your tortured, hallucinatory logic. Occupy wants more from the government, Tea Party wants smaller government and less taxes taken by that government.

HA!

Occupy falls apart, fizzles out and is remembered as a dismal, disorganized movement stained with violence, rapes and anarchy so this HACK does what every liberal lefty does: BLAME someone else.

See? The Occupy movement is really a RIGHT WING movement!

Got it!
