Comments on: Who’s fighting for whom in Yemen’s proxy war? ISIS started its career as a ragtag rampaging jihadists. It could have been nipped in the bud. But Obama was adamant in not ordering boots on the ground. He knows how Saddam’s elite, well armed and equipped, Royal Guard, had to flee before Americans. So he ordered air strikes which are nothing but pin pricks. Obama facilitated the ISIS to establish a caliphate which now includes large swathes in Iraq, Syria, Libya, and now Yemen. He has allowed ISIS to capture oilfields. Sophisticated American arms, tanks and SUVs given to Syria and Iraq are now in the hands of ISIS. He has been flirting with terror state Iran and he is primarily responsible for the rising influence of Iran: its nuclear ambitions; its sway over the Iraqi government; its support for the militant groups Hezbollah and Hamas, and its alliance with Syria. It is against this political backdrop that we have analyse the events in Yemen which look quite gloomy for Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
