Comments on: How Western politicians are playing into Islamic State’s hands Thu, 21 Jul 2016 07:57:19 +0000 hourly 1 By: EdMartin Thu, 19 Nov 2015 22:26:59 +0000 seeing the splendid state of Aleppo and Sinjar and noting the recent addition of russian ordinance aimed at Syrian towns controlled by anyone but Assad brought back fond memories of the state of Grozny after the second Russian ‘investment’

good to see mr putin enjoying himself doing what he does best

miraculous to hear mr netanyahu state that israeli / russian relations are ‘good’

and best of all the sight of european politicians declaring ‘war’ and taking their place in the pantomime chorus

By: GetReel Thu, 19 Nov 2015 17:20:45 +0000 The world’s media are definitely playing into ISIS hands by exhorting the continued importation of Islamic men of fighting age from a region known as a hotspot of salafism.

Hammerstad, as an expert in “humanitarian politics” makes no secret that all are welcome in western societies, jihadi or not.

By: Steve041060 Thu, 19 Nov 2015 17:12:56 +0000 I don’t believe Paul Ryan is a presidential candidate.
If you are going to ramble, get your facts strait.

By: Limehouse Thu, 19 Nov 2015 16:09:10 +0000 Paul Ryan isn’t a presidential candidate.

By: salterst Thu, 19 Nov 2015 14:21:12 +0000 Great article, but there’s one thing I noticed that I believe is inaccurate: Paul Ryan isn’t a presidential candidate at this time. He’s a former vice presidential candidate, but he isn’t currently in the race for the Republican Nomination.

By: Flash1022 Thu, 19 Nov 2015 13:55:28 +0000 What is terrifying to myself is conservatives are using collective punishment and fear instead of statesmanship, and that the populace is falling in line with that fear, causing the loss of world humanity.

By: nojuan Thu, 19 Nov 2015 12:55:59 +0000 Let the Muslim states take the refugees. They are all supposed to be brothers and required to help fellow Muslims in need.

By: Contrary Thu, 19 Nov 2015 12:47:12 +0000 The problem with indiscriminate migrant lovies like yourself, so prominent in the media today, is that you pour scorn on legitimate concerns of others. Such concerns so readily trashed include: –

1. Safety concerns associated with opening borders without checks on migrants.
2. Implying that there are no risks or consequences from such a large flow of people.
3. That many of the migrants aren’t as suggested refugees seeking asylum.
4. That many seeking entry hold views opposed to our liberal values; freedom of speech, equality legislation and religious freedom to mention but a few.
5. Concerns for livelihood.

It is scandalous that you translate such concerns into a wish to punish genuine refugees. People have genuine concerns and to pretend otherwise and simultaneously piously dictating what our humanitarian duty is quite odious. Many of us have long been aware of hardship on the planet where the plight of individuals can be much worse than the migrants streaming into Europe. It hasn’t required a dead toddler for us to realise this.
