South China Sea does not belong to America, NATO… or Dick Cheney.

Calm down, go read a book.

It’s ironic for the US to claim otherwise given they are the ones sending in superior destroyers and missile frigates half a world away from their own country. The fact of the matter is if the US can contain China in the South China Sea, the Chinese nuclear submarine deterrent out of Hainan island will be nullified, therefore posing an existential threat to China. China’s entire defensive posture will be compromised by a US wall stretching from Japan, South Korea, all the way to the Philippines, Australia…etc.

It is strange for the US to ask China to respect international law the United States itself has not ratified. It is also strange that the South China Sea issue (0 casualties so far) is seemingly causing more media attention then US-backed adventures in Iraq/Syria which has left millions of civilians dead to date.

The Chinese must know that their actions are unacceptable and that they are going to have consequences for China.

Not our problem. This whole line of reporting is hawkish and juvenile.

This is a very symptomatic response of the West: they deploy missiles, we issue phone calls and express concerns. The same goes for Putin’s aggression in Ukraine. The same went for Hitler’s annexation of the Sudetenland…
