		<description>It is true that the Japanese showed great discipline in the wake of the disaster.  I would argue that this had been instilled long ago by stay-at-home moms.  It is therefore contradictory for Mr. Bremmer to argue that Japan needs to tap its female workforce, because doing so would erode its discipline over the long term.</description>

If Japan achieves more of the same in the 21st century, let&#039;s hope it&#039;s none of the same as the last 22 years. We think it&#039;s on a glide path to history if it doesn&#039;t deal with its debt and demographic problems.
