Comments on: Obama in the White House – will he deliver? Perspectives on South Asian politics Thu, 02 Jun 2016 08:03:22 +0000 hourly 1 By: max Thu, 14 May 2009 14:14:48 +0000 May be too many pulls and pushes, too many lobbyists, too much too soon. Wish all this wont make him “One of the Same”.
If he had proceeded an inquiry on the earlier admin on lapses, omissions & commissions he may have made them realize their folly and he could have got the time to concentrate on shaping a new future. May be as ordinary world citizen we cannot know the depth of dungeons & dragons in the powerline map.

But the truth of the matter is, I don’t think the world would ever see you differently than what you are considered- which is a black man. You don’t have to deny who you are by embracing that you are a black man. And just be proud to be that. No more than I have to deny my Indian grandfather. But yet I am still an African-American woman. Maybe we don’t watch the same speeches, but I’ve heard Obama mention several times about his caucasian roots. If he did’t stand for equality for all U.S. citizens, then do you really think that our country and the world would be embracing him like this? Look this is why people like Jesse Jackson didn’t make it. He didn’t have the heart and the passion nor the integrity that President Obama has. But you know I’m sure because he embraces all cultures, some blacks would consider him not black enough. Then here you are, a mutiracial man, saying he’s not white enough? You of all people should understand what that’s like. I don’t see division in this at all. I can say that for the first time in my short life, our country has not joined as a white people nor a black people, but as a united people. And that spirit was felt throughout Washington. You ought to be proud that this man of a multiracial descent can bring that type of change to our country. Realize how blessed you are to see this time in our country. And to the rest of you, get over it, there’s a BLACK MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

By: Patrick C. Fri, 23 Jan 2009 05:11:29 +0000 After dismantling the Bush anti-terror defenses, obama will succeed in getting the US attacked by terrorists. That will be his first and last “success”. After that, he will become even more irrelevant than Jimmy Carter.

You’re right except for one thing. You said “millions” and you really mean “billions”

By: TOKI Thu, 22 Jan 2009 16:33:45 +0000 obama,
Whole world is looking at you. The feeling is to have a good leadership through which you can stop bloodshed, massacre and mostly frustration. All current world leaders are hopeless. In reality, they are not busy with their own agenda. Establish justice, love people, feel the pain of distress, work for humanity rather than hostility you will see a peaceful world. Please remember peace can not achieve with power. Power can not give peace, tranquillity or integrity. Love is the way.

By: Skychief Thu, 22 Jan 2009 00:23:27 +0000 Most of America doesn’t have a clue. Democrats and Republicans are at each others throats, while the lobbyists, special interests and campaign donors are having laws passed for them instead of the citizens. Nobody is accountable for anything. We are headed for a Greater Depression if half of Obama’s promises are pushed through. Economics 101, it doesn’t add up, period. Benjamin Franklin said “A government that governs best is the government that governs least.” Every American should read “National Contender” ordered through any major bookstor. It is a political thriller, but it outlines beautifully how both parties have sold us out. Millions of our tax dollars handed out for a few hundred thousand of donations. The only hope for America is to take lobbyists and corporate donations out of the equation. Make the press present exactly what the candidates stand for with weekly debates two months before the election. Unless of course you are a Socialist and think the Government should control everything. All this bail out money is going to big time donors. It has nothing to do with the people. Capitalism is the only reason this country became so great in such a relatively short period of time. We are going in reverse now.

By: Angel Thomas Wed, 21 Jan 2009 02:27:36 +0000 I am in total agreement with Uniting all Americans.
America really has more problems today with discrimination against other differences in Americans
than skin. My prayer is that we will all be accountable
for everything we do and say, that has any element of hatred, and that we can become an Honest Nation.
The financial crisis that we are in, did not happen because of honesty, or selflessness.
We have got to instill in our lives and our childrens lives, that you do not get rich quick, it is going to take a lifetime of hard work and to save for the future.
Let us all be rolemodels, and be accountable to one another to save our planet and begin to look around at who we can help. Help the widow, help the orphaned, help the down and out.

By: RJ Lind Tue, 20 Jan 2009 18:21:11 +0000 As an American, I hope and pray that President Obama will be able to overcome our present situation and help us to get back on track.
As a multi-racial man, I take issue with the media, some activists and Present Obama himself for NOT being fair to his caucasian heritage. I think this is a major msitake on his part that only adds fuel to the radical white population.
President Obama, you are a man of Black and Caucasian lineage. You have a golden opportunity to overcome the bias of history and unite ALL people regardless of skin color. PLEASE play down the Black issue and play up the All American issue for you truly are an ALL AMERICAN.

Unite us, don’t divide us more.

Your skin color won’t solve our problems, but your brain, determination, heart and spirit can, and must! You are a role model for all Americans!!

A multi-racial American!
