Having said that, I don’t think mutilating criminals is the solution. Although I’m sure the author was writing more to titillate than to make serious proposals, and writing out of justifiable frustration rather than serious consideration, it’s no wonder feminism isn’t making as many friends among men as it could when the women who are a part of it don’t watch what they say. Men should get on board with feminism, but not because they have to tolerate commentary like that. At a time when the barbarism of female genital mutilation is starting to be addressed, it makes no sense to talk about mutilating the genitalia of men, whether they “deserve” it or no.
