Well must say it's a very informative and good article! Hopefully, DCT will benefit the poor, who it was alleged did not benefit much from the subsidies! :(. Of course, it's not going to be a smooth run, but hopefully with time things will get sorted. And hopefully a day will come when there won't be much need for subsidies.......... :)

The DCT scheme has been launched with great expectations from the government of India and one such huge expectation is to attract voters for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections just like the one they launched the MNREGA scheme just before the 2009 General elections. That's really tough to believe that the implementation will be a success because the infrastructure required for this is very poor in the country especially when it comes to the rural India. The scheme is based on Aadhar card and till now only 25 crore people have been issued their Aadhaar numbers. I doubt this scheme and don't think this will actually work for them.

The reasons - either government's direct-cash transfer scheme or mobile telephony servuces's need to expand thier portfolio by way of funds transfer as a VAS, for the near-term results may vary.
However, digitaised banking will certainly have monumental efffect of the long-term standards of governace of oublic services.Hence, this needs to be taken up by all the citizens, NGOs who work in the area of transperent governance of oublic services.
