Reactions to the Kasab verdict

A Mumbai court sentenced to death Pakistani citizen Mohammad Ajmal Kasab over the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Here are some reactions from people in New Delhi.

COMMENT

I must not sound like a mindless murderer…..but i am very good at writing , well there are some kids who born after kasab started killing the innocent people and some unfortunate kids will die with some or other reason but kasab may still be alive……!
I dont support killing of any human being…..and i wont support the hanging or kasab but thanz god he has proved himself not being a human…..! so the fast they hang him ….the better.hope they feel the same what those people are feeling whom kasab and his gang has done.

Pakistan cricket plunges into crisis

Photo

It’s just not cricket.

Ducking for cover as bullets replaced bouncers… players evacuated in a military helicopter that lands right next to a 22-yard pitch… the same strip at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium that saw Thilan Samaraweera score a double century the previous evening.

Samaraweera was hit on his leg during an audacious attack by armed militants on a convoy taking his team to the venue, an attack that left six cricketers injured and more than half-a-dozen Pakistani security personnel killed.

The world of cricket will never be the same again.

More worrying is the fate of Pakistani cricket. Tours to Pakistan were already a trickle with teams like Australia refusing to travel.

The matches against Sri Lanka came after more than a year of near pariah status. And even this tour was hastily arranged after India pulled out post-26/11.

After months of shadow boxing and pulled punches, the ICC had to suspend international cricket in Pakistan.

COMMENT

being an indian,i can’t thank God enough that india cancelled its tour of Pakistan.God knows what would have happened to them.Maybe the incident was top show how deep terrorism has reached into the core of Pakistan.
All the same i also feel sorry for the Pakistani public and people…Pakistan has always enjoyed and has been good at cricket. Now without any tours,PCB will find it difficult to maintain pakistani cricket at its current standards.

Finding Delhi’s “spirit” post serial blasts

Photo

Three days after the weekend serial bombings that killed 22 people in New Delhi, I find the general atmosphere of the national capital almost abnormal in its normalcy.

One of the blast happened right across the street on which the Reuters office is located.

Colleagues who were working on September 13 told me the impact of the blast at Barakhamba Road shook the building and unsettled flocks of pigeons nesting on rooftops of adjoining high rises.

The sirens of police cars, ambulances and fire brigade vehicles soon shattered the tense silence of the otherwise bustling commercial district, as people rushed to help the injured.

As I walked into the office a day later, I expected to see chaos, panic, and a heavy police presence all around. What unnerved me was the resilience of people who owned small shops, ran taxi services and sold goods on the sidewalk at the blast site.

Men were busy sorting out wares, erecting makeshift shelters against the sun and sprinkling the usual vile coloured water on tropical fruits to give them a fresh look.

Other than being probed with a metal detector, there was little or no disturbance in my daily routine.

COMMENT

i dont know what people will get by doing this …some many lives are lost in these blasts who can get happiness by doing this ….. this the sickest thing a person can do .. killing!!!!
