		<description>Being an export nation requires buyers. Japan also has formidable competitors. These two factors together means that Japan is vulnerable to the global economy while the only way to keep its competitive edge is through superior quality and innovation.

Frankly, I don&#039;t see Japan rising like a phoenix out of the ashes just yet. 

What I do see is the beginning of recognizing their problems and actively doing something about it. It would be presumptuous to forecast anything at this early stage. 

However, their situation warrants careful watching. Some opportunities could well emerge in a few months time.</description>
